Castle is a lot smaller than I expected too. Thought he'd be 6'4-ish.

What previous prospects compared to his measurables? My biggest concern with him is he can't shoot but if his wingspan is big enough then maybe he can at least be a finisher at the rim until he develops a dependable shot? Like what were Spida's pre-draft measurables for example.

As for Dillingham, he'd need to be a Kemba Walker type offensive threat to be effective in the NBA and given our deficiencies on defense I simply can't picture choosing him at 6.

Clingan is the way to go here guys, assuming he's there. If he's not, then Buzelis or Holland. One of those three should be there.

I wonder if the 6'2 is an error because Castle certainly looks noticeably taller than Dillingham/Sheppard in this photo

A lot of speculation the Castle numbers are wrong.

I wouldn't panic just yet.

D Mitchel was also 6'1'' without shoes, but had a 6'10'' wingspan. Castle is 6'2'' with a 6'8.75 wingspan and a slightly better standing reach than Mitchel.

But Castle doesn't have the size to be your physical shutdown defender between LaMelo and Brandon Miller. I would move Knecht in front of Castle, Reed and Dillingham at this point.

Clingan is almost certain to be gone unless a team gets really wise and takes Edey ahead of where we pick.

Rockets desperately need rim protection. I can see them shifting Sengun to PF. Clingan's upside as a spacer is overlooked. He will be able to space at the 5, allowing the Rockets to have Sengün space with playmaking at the 4 eventually.

I'm calling it now.

Rockets select Clingan.

Also listen to all his interviews. He's really high IQ and very much a spiritual leader through 2 championship runs. The ball sticks to his hands.

Safe pick with upside who fits a need in.Houston.

I don't see this as a very realistic option. Sengun is a career 28% 3pt shooter and only made 33 last season, also just a 70% from FT.
Clingan is even worse, 2/9 from 3 in 2 yrs of college basketball, shot 58% from line.

Plus they traded 3 2nd round picks for Steven Adams, still have Jock Landale and Jabari Smith played some center for this year.

Just see no way the Clingan, Sengun pairing makes any sense for more than 4-5 mins per game.

Draymond Green created spacing at the 4 for a dynasty leveraging his playmaking skills above his position. The model is there for replication.

Sengün is costing them on defense. So yeah, of course they grabbed Adams for a few cushion years. But he's not their longterm answer for rim protection.

Ciingan would be their long term answer for rim protection.

It's certainly not Sengün. But Alpren can certainly create space with playmaking at the 4 and give some of what Draymond gave on offense. Draymond was never a range shooter. Then again, most schemes on offense can't run through your 4. If you can run offense through your 4, you have a positional advantage there similar to stretch 4's who can knock down shots like guards.

Sengun, Clingan and Jabari Smith have complementary skills. That's a solid group of bigs.

What skill are they lacking?

Playmaking? Sengün. Check.
Rim protection? Clingan. Check.
Range shooting? Jabari. Check.

2 years of Adams isn't going to influence any decision to pass on Clingan as your long term rim protector.

Rockets core is Sengun, Green, Jabari, Whitmore.

How old is Steven Adams?

Clingan is a top-3 talent.

What's his wingspan?

Nevermind they said it was a incorrect measurement.

There is still hope please be 6'4 at least. :D

Clingan is also a high character guy. His mother died when he was just 14. She played basketball and taught him. He was a state champion in HS in CT, grew up rooting for UConn and won 2 championships. Coach Hurley, teammates and fans showered him with love. He's really good-natured for any NBA locker room, yet still intense on the court. He is a menace on defense which is valuable to NBA teams, and his measurements back up his skills as a lockdown defender. Top 3 teams could be looking at him as a Rudy Gobert factor. Gobert anchored the top defense in the NBA.

We have Mark Williams for the paint. We need Castle for the perimeter. Grant Williams is a plus defender as well.

EmpireFalls wrote:Castle measurements: awful. 6' 2.25'' without shoes, 6' 8.75'' wingpsan.

I am officially out on him at #6 after seeing those measurements. That is not good at all.

Compare him to Holland and Walter: 6' 6.50" without shoes, 6' 10.75'' wingspan for Holland, 6' 4.25'' without shoes, 6' 10.00'' for Walter.

Castle now pretty much off my board too.

Holland solidified himself in my wants list

EDIT: guess Castle's are potentially incorrect. Holding judgment for now

Yeah winner as in he might go top 20.
He still only averaged 7.6 ppg as a 20 yr old this year.
