Those of us who follow college basketball know that Trilly is the real deal.

Pretty much what we already knew. The teams internal stuff is a mess because of MJ's cheapness and nepotism. Maybe thats the best argument to hire a current GM instead of a new person.

I think they already know who they want to hire (i.e. the outside consultants they got trade deadline advice from), but they'll let the hiring process play out to make sure they're bringing in the best person they can get for the job.

I think pretty much everyone on the list leaked would be a good option. They all have worked in successful front offices and noteworthy names in the industry. Really just going to come down to interviews and see how they plan to build out the roster.

Players have apparently been voicing concerns of medical staff. Finally the elephant in the room being talked about.

MJ was always the one constant from 2006 to 2023. It's no coincidence we were a basket case of a franchise. Yes. He was better than Shinn and Bob Johnson, but that's a low low bar to clear.

This feels like waking up from a bad dream. The place is actually being run competently, on the level with other professional basketball teams who try to be competitive.

Peterson seems like the young up and coming guy we name GM and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s paired with a more elder statesman President of Basketball Ops type. That seems to be the direction we’re moving with Kupchak stepping down.

There's no need for another older voice when they are keeping Kupchak around for that responsibility.

Hopefully they let an up and comer like Peterson or Langdon get the role and they can use Kupchak as a sounding board, particularly in relation to the draft where Mitch has a proven track record of identifying good young talent.

Mitch being an advisor can mean a lot of things. My guess is that he might have an office, probably not, and will have meetings or phone calls at the request of the new GM. Those requests are more numerous at the beginning, cause he knows what’s been done or where some bodies are buried. Gradually the chats slow…then they stop. Just like any business when someone retires from a top spot.

In the same vein that "MJ is maintaining a minority stake with some input into the decision making process" or however it was worded.

On one hand it makes sense because those guys are known old heads in the league and their names carry (some) weight.

On the other, let's not get into the habit of keeping around a bunch of guys who couldn't get the job done. Being a good ol boy organization is a big part in why it failed with those guys the first time. Good will only goes so far

Trajan Langdon went to Duke. He was a scout for the Spurs and Brooklyn's assistant GM for a few years before going to the Pelicans.

Trent Redden was a scout for the Cavs and a basketball operations guy as assistant GM and VP of BBall ops. Then he was hired as assistant GM with the Clippers and promoted to GM last year.

Mike Gansey was the G-league executive of the year in 2017. Then he moved to the Cavs Assistant GM role and got promoted to GM in 2022.

Brand is obviously the most known because he was a pretty good player. He started off as GM of the 76ers G-league team and player development coach. Then he got promoted to the 76ers in 2018. Also they hired Daryl Morey in 2020. So it's hard to tell how much of a say Brand has in building the current 76ers.

My Rankings:

1- Trajan Langdon: Built a solid team in another small market. Hired a good young coach. Drafted well. Made pretty good trades.
2- Mike Gansey: I like this article : https://www.mensjournal.com/everyday-warrior/mike-gansey
3- Jeff Peterson: Viewed as an up and coming executive. The least experienced of the group but his resume is pretty good already.
4- Redden: Wary of hiring another LA executive. They benefit a lot from simply being in LA, players want to go there.
5- Brand: Gave out some really bad contracts. Not sure how much he has to do with current 76ers due to Morey running the show.

James putting in some work. That's a major tidbit, I imagine Trajan Langdon has some backing inside the organization.

Dang, I thought it was supposed to be a wild conspiracy theory that there was anything wrong with the Hornets medical staff.

They use methods of the 1500's. Bone saws. Plague masks. Draining all your blood to fix minor ailments.

I don't know much about Trajan Langdon but he theoretically seems like the type of candidate that could be interesting. There were a couple others mentioned I feel similarly about.

I know I don't want Brand or Schlenk, though.

Why not Schlenk?
