We're definitely not throwing the season, guys.

Curious what Cody's long-term role is here. Is he our starting SG? 6th man? Back-up SF? Miscast player that is nothing more than a role player on a good team?

It seems like LaMelo and Williams are the only sure things for our future. Several players and youngsters that have potential here long term, but still unsure. Trying to figure out our "core" for the next 4-5 years.

I think right now Martin should be the starting SG when healthy and Rozier should be 6th man. I think Martin is good enough as a starter, but also someone you could easily upgrade and then better use him as a good bench piece. I say his long term role depends a lot on who they get in the draft.

In terms of balance, Cody should be the starting SG next to Melo with Terry being the 6th man who replaces whichever one of them gets subbed out first.

Cody just isn't quite good enough as a shooter and the rest of the starters don't quite have enough gravity to maximize his role.

Feels like Martin has been injured for years.

Hopefully it's just as a precaution.

getting more Lonzo vibes than anything else. at least Kemba was capable of playing even as his knee died

I'd understand the FO trying to protect his trade value, but even the media is so quiet about it. Headscratcher.

On the Lowe Post when discussing Buddy Hield, Zach Lowe proposed Cody + Bouk for Hield. I thought that was interesting.

Hield doesn't make a lot of sense for us but that is a very obvious yes for Charlotte.

Especially not with Rozier on the roster since the whole reason Hield is available is because he wants a contract that would be in the Rozier range (likely higher).

As for Cody, it would be great to know if this is just to be cautious since he was coming off a year long injury or if there's some kind of Sean May / Kemba / Lonzo knee issue going on there.

This is from a SI article from two days ago.

"Martin spent all of training camp doing limited work off to the side as he is not quite ready for live, five-on-five action just yet."

If he still can't fully practice at this point it seems like its possibly this is another Lonzo situation and might be basically done.

Well, that's not good.

As much as I dig Cody and how much we need him, I'm pretty giving up on him. It's a huge red flag. I think he is toast.

I thought he should start and be a team captain this year. Hopefully hes not finished, but it looks like thats where this is headed.

He's signed to an extension, right? So I think we keep him for at least this year.
