Meh, after all the buzz recently I'm expecting a quiet day on our end.

Meanwhile Mitch forgot Hayward and Lowry exist because they both refuse to play

I’d figured that when I first saw klutch mentioned, I think it increases the likelihood of them trading pj to free up cap space. I don’t think they wanted both long term

No desire for Grant Williams, an undersized PF with worse production than PJ. Seth Curry could have helped our reserve PG spot years ago but he’s 33 and well past his prime.

Would you rather have Grant as a backup PF making 13-14 for next 3.5 years
Or Holmes as a 3rd center making 12.5 for the next 1.5 years?

Likely one of them would be included as the salary filler in any PJ deal.

If miles is staying then that certainly increases the odds of PJ getting traded. I never expected us to keep both long-term.

Miles and his agent certainly know the best way to get paid is for him to keep putting up 40 point games on a crappy team rather than go be the Sixth Man on Phoenix potentially getting played off the court in the playoffs due to his defense.

The woj comments about our entire bench being out of the league next year is pretty hilarious. That Mitch special poo poo platter bench is quite possibly the worst bench I've ever seen assembled on an NBA roster. Well done. Ish might be the greatest tank Commander ever.

Well that’s a good question. This season is a throw away, so you’re talking about Holmes being here next season only (or on an expiring which could help in a trade). Williams is younger, does play decent, and might play to the value as a good bench contributor.

So if Williams is good enough, why does Dallas trade him for PJ? Would we get Green also?

Williams has been pretty poor for Dallas, hence wanting pj

In other words DAL doesn’t want to trade Josh Green because he’s younger and actually good so Hornets weak GM may dump PJ for castaways + 2nds? That would be disappointing

Does Grant Williams still play defense? Silver lining for this trade is Grant finally gives us a locker room leader.

PJ and Miles do feel redundant at times together as two low IQ chucking wings.

I don’t think they’re willing to deal Green and a first round pick for taking on Holmes as part of that deal. Would Green and Williams without the pick be fair? Whatever the players per Winhorst the final banter is relative to the pick compensation. Probably goes down to the wire.

Happy that Miles is staying and agree that PJ will be the guy going out today.

I'm not a fan of Seth and Williams, but do 100% want Green here in a deal with DAL. Shoot for the stars Mitch, but don't be so stubborn that if Green + 2nd is the return, that you rebuff because you want a FRP. The next two dominos to fall after the deadline are Cliff and Mitch.

Please don't do us dirty and keep a young asset like Green away because you think you can get a first + for PJ.

We're not there yet but I want to first see how Martin and Nick Richards look next season with a real bench and healthy starters.

If Martin is still going iso and shooting league worst (getting crushed by Monk in efficiency and value) and if Nick Richards can be whisked aside easily and constantly out of position whenever distant from the rim (soccer goal), they're the next contracts I'm considering for exchange on the trade market next deadline.

So, Martin + Nick Richards = ?

Long term I'm wondering 4 Hornets 1st round picks + Miami 2027(28) + Dallas 2027 = ?

1. What player options, cap holds, etc. roster info am I missing?
2. Who are you keeping that I don't have their cap hold or guaranteed contract?
3. Who are you letting go of that I have on the roster?

Hornets
LaMelo Ball $35,250,000
Grant Williams $13,025,250
Brandon Miller $11,424,600
Cody Martin $8,120,000
Vasilije Micic $7,723,000
Nick Richards $5,000,000
Tre Mann $4,908,373
Mark Williams $4,094,280
Seth Curry $4,000,000
Nick Smith Jr. $2,587,200
Bryce McGowens $2,019,699
JT Thor $1,988,598
Miles Bridges Cap Hold $15,050,470
Davis Bertans (Wavied/G'teed) $5,250,000
4th Overall Pick $9,196,560

Total Salary $129,638,030
Cap Space $12,361,970
Tax Space $42,961,970
1st Apron Space $49,961,970
2nd Apron Space $60,461,970
Cap Holds $0

Hornets Questions
1. What will Miles Bridges sign for in the off-season?
2. What will Charlotte pursue via draft/free agency?

1) Great question. Guessing $22-$25m/yr over 4 years with stipulations that allow voiding the contract for obvious reasons
2) It's evident that they need to construct a more balanced roster. Without doing a deep dive into free agents, I would expect a backup PG whether that is going to be 3rd string or 2nd (Micic looked good in his audition) and PF/C depth. For the draft, it's as simple as BPA. I think there's a decent chance of a big trade too now that we have a collection of assets that other teams would want.

Need #1 for this team is a big man that can cover the center minutes Mark doesn't play, but is also able to exist with him. Most very good centers in today's NBA only play 27-30mpg apiece, so having two of them is not an issue at all, as long as they can play 10-12mpg of their minutes together. We cannot go into another season with Mark as the only decent center. His back problems are concerning enough that we need to start thinking about contingency plan without him, but he's also too good to completely write off.

I'd be thrilled to have a long-term Sabonis/Turner "problem" here, is what I'm saying.
