I made a comment the day of the trade deadline about how we needed to add a veteran leader who could help change the culture. Literally moments later this trade was announced.

I was literally the happiest person when I saw this trade. Grant is the kind of player this team needed in the locker room. Also helps he's from Charlotte.

Once again we also got a 1st round pick out of this deal. Hell of a trade!

[Grant Williams] decided he wanted to get under Luka's skin," Finley said. "He felt that Luka didn't come that day ready to practice. So to make a long story short, they had a scrimmage going and he's talking trash to Luka up and down the court. Finally, Luka says 'OK' and I tell you, Luka went on a 26-6 run by himself. You can ask anybody, I'm not exaggerating. It was like a 26-6 run by himself. He showed everything. The 3's, the post-up, the floaters, everything by himself."

"Everybody on the sideline, including the coaches, was like 'Do not poke the bear."

Sounds like Grant brought out Luka's competitive side when he was slacking off in practice. That feels like leadership to me?

I don't get why they framed like that was a mistake by Grant.

I agree. Even though Luka is the main franchise piece, he isn't above everyone else. If anything he should be setting the tone. This is why you need accountability.

Its okay for Jordan or Kobe to do something like that though. God forbid a teammate not want their superstar teammate to be lazy.

He needs to do that with Melo when (if) he gets healthy. Quit accepting cool and get some damn wins.

A Dallas fan on the general board said the original quote is more just a fun story about grant, not intended as criticism at all. Which I choose to believe as I always liked Michael Finley, didn’t expect him to be the snarky, bitchy type.

Now the Boston commentator is dumping on Grant. But Tatum disagrees.

Isn't grant williams the vice president or something of the players association? He can't be that big of a dick. They literally vote him in.

yeah more likely just another example of clickbait media creating something out of nothing, so some clicks a link to receive more inadvertent ads. Truth and value of the article is irrelevant. Just need to get people to click the headline

Was thinking the same thing. How does he get the job if everyone hates him? Then again, he may be a dick, but he's their dick.

Love everything grant has brought to the team, physical, vocal veteran. He’s exactly the type of vet I wanted to add to this team.

When can we hand him an extension?

I really love him. He finally landed somewhere he can play through mistakes without getting yanked (Celtics) nor barked at (Mavs). He can find a rhythm here. His heart is in it. He's pureblood Charlottean. He is the voice of these new Hornets in my opinion. PJ is more talented but he fades into the background when it comes to taking charge. He excels whenever he feels good about himself. If he's down on himself, he's out. PJ is not stable emotionally.

Grant is a pillar. He's an obelisk.

Grant is the captain of this team. I think the players have gravitated to him. The man is a winner. He's the closest thing we have to championship level Draymond Green, minus the malice. Green hates Grant because Grant is mentally tough and only thrives when Green tries to breakdown opponents with verbal abuse. Grant dishes it right back, so Green being a thug resorts to physical abuse, kicking him in the gonads.

Grant is in his head.

11 assists last game. 7 more this one. Staunch defender. Point center in small ball lineups. Plays to his role. Motivates teammates. Organizes the defense. Makes the right play on offense. Man strength. Pitbull tenacity. He's just missing the rebounding. Makes up for it being a far superior range shooter and spacer.

Oh yeah, Mitch poached a top-2 protected 1st along with Grant. Criminal!

This guy is a younger version of P.J. Tucker. I like his presence in our team.

Doubt this is true but I can see why the Bucks would want him, or any team for that matter.
