Tyus Jones is coming off his contract and Wiz need a floor general. No doubt they take Topic.

Spurs have Wemby anchoring their defense so they can take a swing at Sheppard at 4

Sarr goes 1. Risacher to the Rockets 3.

Pistons get their pick of Holland, Castle, Buzelis, Dillongham. Seems Ivey means Dillingham is out. Duren means Clingan is out.

Hornets can have Clingan 6 or someone not selected by the Pistons.

I think Clingan falls to 7 (Blazers).

I think Hornets end up with Holland, Castle or Buzelis.

I'm very meh on Clingan and Castle but it seems we'll get one of them. like, is James Nnaji that much worse than Clingan? We spent a high 2nd on him.

I also think I'd prefer Holland over Castle but maybe Castle is a way better scorer and athlete than he showed at UConn.

The only surprise team ahead of Charlotte who might take Clingan is the Rockets. They have Sengün but they've been shopping for rim protection, and even pursued Nick Richards (according to rumors). Talk about desperate.

1. Atlanta - Sarr
2. Washington - Topic
3. Houston - Buzelis
4. San Antonio - Risacher
5. Detroit - Reed
6. Charlotte - Holland

Could also see Atlanta take Topic if they want to trade Trae.

Wemby and all the ground he covers on defense means Spurs can go all in on offense. He's easy to build around being the game's premiere shot blocker.

I just don't see San Antonio passing on Sheppard if he's there.

Holland is a dangerous reach IMO. Athletic but poor shooting form, makes bad decisions and would duplicate our NSJ pick at a far too high level.

I see Castle as a better option than Holland. If we can choose between Clingan, Buzelis and Castle I will feel more confident we get a long term difference maker.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Hornets prioritized IQ at the deadline. If both Holland and Castle are there, Castle is the much better decision maker, and just far smarter with the ball in his hands.

I think if Castle is there, he's a Hornet.

Pistons could take Castle #5.

If Clingan falls to Portland @ 7, I'd call about Robert Williams III.

Castle is a worse shooter than Holland is.

If we're picking two between two poor shooting wings, take the bigger one.

The Pistons aren't going to take more players that can't shoot.

Take the smarter one and don't look back. Also, one is a playmaker who can create for others. Holland is way too one-dimensional.

Pass.

I suspect they will take Buzelis. So Castle should be there at #6.

Can Castle create for others if he's left open on 3pt shots? I doubt it. His role is a defensive wing/slasher. Nobody is drafting him to score or be a playmaker. He's this drafts Winslow or MKG.

Which brings me back to Holland, who is a better/bigger defender and more athletic.

We have center who will never excel at moving the ball. So you take Castle as your secondary playmaker. We need a connector if we are drafting wing defense.

LaMelo - primary playmaker
Castle - secondary playmaker

Moves Brandon to third playmaker where he's absolutely deadly. Miles is solid as 4th playmaker.

Mark is covered. He just needs to catch and finish.

I don't see where Holland gives us any measureable strategic advantage like drafting a wing-sized combo guard in Castle, pushing Miller and Miles further down the playmaking pecking order on offense. He's also smart.

Dillingham would be a fun story since he is from Lincolnton Hickory area... but we need another nsj, Mann type like we need a hole in the head.
