Kai Jones will be lucky to sign an exhibit 10 deal from here on out. And he'll probably only get one shot if he's lucky.

Kai is done as an NBA player IMO.

He's going to be 23 in January.

I think at this point, unless a bad team signs him to see what's there, he's not going to be an NBA player if we get rid of him.

Is Kai the worst (relative to draft position) pick of the modern Bobnets?

Adam Morrison is worse.

Bouknight is probably #3.

Vernon Carey is #4. Picked him with the 32nd pick and he played like 150 minutes for us total.

Vonleh and Frank at least managed to have decent careers as bench players, even if it wasn't here. If they were picked in the 20/30's, they'd probably be considered fine picks.

I can't in good faith include second rounders. They almost never pan out

Most 2nd rounders do not, but the 32 pick has expectations to be a contributor eventually. I believe we traded for that pick too.

Only about a season too late. Mitch whiffed big time in 2021 but he really doubled down on his sunk cost last offseason when he exercised the third year options of Kai and Bouknight. Both were clear declines last offseason but Mitch was too proud to admit he'd made those mistakes.

Kai gets paid to do nothing now. Seems like he's being rewarded for his behaviour to some extent which doesn't sit well with me, regardless of whether it was intentional or not.

At least we can sign a backup 5 who might actually be playable now, Kai clearly was not.

Does this have something to do with the ownership change? Always been my theory Bouk & Kai weren't Mitch picks. Did we lose our Kai whisperer along the way?

He's guaranteed his third year salary as we stupidly picked up his option this time last year.

No they were both definitely Mitch's guys and Mitch chose to pick up their options last offseason for this year.
