its not a straight up swap, and hell, it isn't even a trade yet. Yet people are declaring rooting for other teams already.

Didn't thruthefire say the same thing after the Boris/J-rich deal anyway?

No, I don't think I was even posting on this board at the time.

That link posted by the Phoenix fan says it's a done deal.

I can't wait to hear the FO's BS comments about why they did this trade.

No, its the same story and source. NBA.com just fancied it up to attempt to beat out ESPN.

This happens all the time. An agent can talk to Marc Stein (who first broke it) and say "Charlotte and NOH are discussing a trade" and then more sites go on to say "ZOMG ITS FINALIZED".

Didn't this JUST happen with Hedo a few weeks ago?

The NBA link up top posted by rsavaj confirms it's a straight 1 for 1 deal. No offense but I think you may be a bit denial. Which is OK because I would be too if my team made this bad of a trade.

News: The Bobcats are close to a deal that would send Okafor to the Hornets in exchange for Tyson Chandler, the Associated Press reports.
Spin: The deal is thought to be imminent and could even be completed by Monday night. Okafor would see a bump in value playing alongside Chris Paul in the Bayou.

That's from Okafor's player page on ESPN.

And, that is quoting the AP, which is quoting the same "source" hours ago that said the Hornets and Bobcats are working on a deal centered around Okafor and Chandler.

Do you know how news works?

Listen, I would be (a little) pissed if we traded Okafor for him straight up. Mostly because Okafor already knows are system and is healthier. But you guys need to quit it with the "im following other teams now" until the trade is official. Its from the SAME source hours ago, and we don't even know who the source is.

Well, it's the top story on ESPN now, so I think it's close to being done.

Just brainstorming knowing how cheap our FO is....
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... eId=nbw6dg

and

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... eId=la694j

The letter could actually make more sense as LB would get a tall PG he wants. Both are based on pairing Cahndler with expiring contract, no way they would let us snatch West.

the team is in financial dire straits. Shedding 60 million owed to Okafor would be a huge help in getting the finances back on track. Chandler costs roughly 20 M for the next 2 seasons. You save 40 million. The team is bleeding money and I don't blame the Bobcats are wanting to rid themselves of Okafor. He's not the type of player worth going into extended debt for.

And if healthy, Chandler still gives you the defensive presence that Okafor does. He's not going to score 13 PPG but it's not a significant drop off as long as Chandler is healthy.

Chandler will cost more than Okafor for the next two seasons.

At least will have Mohammed, Radmanovic, and Chandler all coming off in two years.

well I just got back from dinner (Cajun resturaunt ironically enough) and the only thing I could think that would justify this is MAYBE the only way Bob-o would agree to pay AI would be to dump Okafors big contract?

or maybe its just a cheapo move all around and we just blew our playoff hopes.

Thats 24 mil in expirings....more than enough to grab the top FA in 2011.

If this deal coincides with signing Iverson, i'll be much more happy.
