That postgame Superteam comment was pretty trash though.

It didn't bother me. I've had kind of the same thought this season. Not that I've heard too many people call the C's a superteam but I've def heard people say it's a stacked team and the expectation seems to be that they should win every game by 200 points. (Which, the C's have actually already tied a franchise record for most 20+ point wins in a postseason.)

But then they sporadically lose a game and everyone freaks out and bashes them like the world is falling apart. He's just saying "yo chill out, fans and media." We aren't entitled to win every game and the playoffs aren't supposed to be easy. Kinda like what noted Uber Dawg Ant Edwards said last night (in the lockerroom since Ant declined to take the podium) ...

The sentence sounds dumb.

If that’s the case, it means that Michael Jordan is the Michael Jordan of Larry Birds.

I thought Tatum was overrated coming out of Duke and still think so. The Celtics are stacked but don't really have a closer. Tatum ain't a closer. I think winning it all is going to be a real challenge for that reason. Not impossible but I don't see them as favorites.

this

This theme gets said around here all the time, and Tatum is totally right to call it out when it’s used by the media.

White - total nobody until he played with Tatum.
Holiday - so good he’s almost an all-star.
Brown - check his contract extension thread, super over rated, routinely claimed he’s only he’s an all-nba guy because he “plays with Tatum/on a stacked team.”
Horford - great when he played with Tatum, left in FA and was a total bust and washed salary dump on two different teams until he came back to Boston.
Porzingis - an irrelevant salary dump bust until this year.
Brogdon - grabs a 6MOTY award.

OTOH the list of guys who have crashed and burned not next to Tatum:
Horford (as mentioned above)
Brogdon now totally irrelevant.
Grant Williams - biggest year over year crater ever.
Hayward/Rozier/Smart/Theis etc etc guys who went into the playoffs with Tatum and then promptly disappeared or landed on “worst contract” lists.

Tl;dr it’s a cute line but it’s stupid and hides the total double standard people use with the Celtics.

We didn’t have the Coach of the Year. We didn’t have the MVP. We only had two All-Stars. They say we’re a superteam, but we didn’t get rewarded like we are. We know we’ve got a good team. We’re not perfect. We play the right way more often than not. We know we gotta be better.”

Reward = home court advantage
I understand what he is saying, they didn't get the awards but the Celtics are still a quality/superteam. Also their players qualify for some of the awards if anything. They got even better this season with Jrue(former all star, quality player) and Zinger(former all star, quality player). Jrue 15pts already vs Cavs game 3.

Their starting 5 is the best in the league and with an above average bench.

It's not too soon, actually this is the only time they can make this kind of thread to mock the Celtics maybe until the Game 2 or 3 of ECF as they will win the next 3 games against the Cavs. Kinda like the Bow down to Spoesltra thread when the Heat won Game 2 against Boston then lost the next 3 games by double digits.

Embiid has shot it over 44% in exactly 1 second round playoff series out of 5 and averages 4 turnovers in the 2nd round.

1. I'm not your buddy. 2. Tatum would be lucky to average that with 1 leg, and half a face.

What about at high altitude??

With half a face? I didn’t realise he made the second round this year? Maybe I’m mistaken

But if you’re talented enough then you don’t need a closer because the games aren’t going to be close down the stretch.

Excuses excuses …

The fact of the matter is ya boy came into the league 3 years before Tatum yet Tatum has 45 more playoff games than him.

Embiid is a career playoff choker and will finish his career as one.

Just like the pathetic joke that is the 76ers.

Thanks for coming.
