2024 NBA Draft Lottery Thread (Sunday 5/12 3pm ET on ABC)
Couldn't find a specific thread on this, which is not surprising given it's been labeled a weak draft with no clear consensus #1 prospect.
It's kind of flown under the radar though and in fact the lottery is happening today in just over 5 hours!

If the Raptors finish 7th and end up giving up the pick to the Spurs after this absolute pathetic season... I won't do anything but still lol.

Better to lose it this year than next year.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Lottery Thread
Because there is no big name people think this draft is bad,but it's not.The #1 might not become the best player from the draft, but getting it still gives a team the sure bet of getting their guy.
The teams i'm hoping go Top 5 are:
CHA
UTH
ATL
CHI
POR
This is going to be one of those draft like 2011 where people bash on it for years, and then everyone acts all sanctimonious calling GM's stupid when Klay, Kawhii, and Butler all get drafted later than expected.
No one knows how these kids are going to look in 4 years with a healthy diet of NBA coaching and hard work, and i'm of the opinion that there are a bunch of guys that could break out and run in that time span.
I really like guys like Knecht, Holland, and most of the top international players. Teams like OKC SAC and MEM who are going to try and compete next year are going to have a ton of ready to play prospects to choose from like Dalton, Castle, Clingan, and Shannon.
I think you're going to see the best players come in back half of the lottory, just like in 2011, and one of those teams GM's is going to look like a GM for drafting the breakout Euro.
My favorite prospects are Sarr, Topic, Knecht, Holland, Ja'Kobe, and Collier.
Right now Holland and Collier are the players flying under the radar that have NBA bodies and already established skill sets. Don't be surprised to see a team draft one of those guys top 5, or they become the best players from the draft

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Lottery Thread
Things to keep in mind, if anyone behind the Raptors moves up, their pick goes to the Spurs.
If the Rockets pick does not land in the top 4, then it goes to OKC.
Also, if the Warriors pick does not land in the top 4, it goes to Portland.
The Jazz are probably safe to not slide several spots and have their pick go to OKC.

If they both had to be the 7th Pick then I agree.
However, if we can get a top 6 pick this year and become close to a play-in team next year then I disagree. This is what I think would happen, which is why I want the Raptors to keep their pick and maybe even move up into the top 4.

I hope the Warriors get into the top 4. I just want to see some chaos.

Can't wait to see the winner get fake excited for winning the lottery that is the poop filling in the middle of the Wembanyama/Cooper Flagg draft sandwich.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Lottery Thread
OKC was already on the end of bad odds with the last Houston 1st they were supposed to get. Given how things are going I’d expect that to happen again today.
Almost impossible for OKC to get the Utah 1st this year, and that’s great because it’s going to be more valuable as a future pick.

Actually hoping Toronto stays in the top 6. I sort of like what they're pivoting to, but I sure as heck would like it more if they landed a top 3 pick.
Same with Chicago.
Same with Chicago.

strong draft, weak draft, there are always players that turn out to be good/great/star players
you just need to have a bit of luck/knowledge to pick the right ones, hopefully we do it tonight

Since SA has potentially 4 picks not counting the Toronto one in 2025 I think I'll be happy if they get the Toronto pick this season. I'd be happy if we ended up with some combo of Dillingham/Risacher/Shepherd
