He is still a rookie. I think OKC should get a center, at least as a backup to reduce the load.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Dereck Lively's been a serious problem for OKC and Chet. After only getting 13 minutes in game 1 Lively is a +58 in the last 4 games.

Game 2: Chet +4, Lively +18
Game 3: Chet +1, Lively +16
Game 4: Chet 0, Lively +2
Game 5: Chet -10, Lively +22

Maybe I should not post this as a Mavs fan, but Shaq and Barkley will say the same - Chet is too poised and good tempered, but he needs some fire and intensity. These, for OKC fans, should be unacceptable. Get a T if needed.

I been pushing that Lively was the best center in the draft. Even better than stick boy Chet.

Well, technically they're not even the same draft. It's debatable whether Chet actually is a rookie or not because he missed his entire first season but still got an entire season of pro development in other ways. He's actually the only player in this series born in 2004

Lively led the 2023 draft in total win shares and after this series the only rookies of any rotational consequence left in the playoffs will be either Lively, or Cason Wallace and Chet (if you even consider him a rookie)

Same as with many other young guys with ridiculous height, he needs an eating project with some "supplements" and everything related to get to some KD level from the current slenderman level. Zion could show him to some tasty food courts (but not too much :D).

Has played all games this season, and without a proper back-up, fatigue is hitting him now I guess.

Needs to revamp his shot arc back to where it was in college, get stronger, bigger and faster, and stop being so predictable in his movement patterns/go to moves.

Come on, even if he's hitting a rookie wall, he's still doing it in a second round of playoffs, being a valuable contributor there.
Yes, Mavs kind of solved him, but he's an awesome player and will become only better from now on - Thunder future is very bright.
With that being said... Go Mavs!:)

He has looked pretty mid for the past 2 months. Did he hit a rookie wall or something?

It might be a strength issue. Those legs probably couldn't hold up for a full season + the playoffs. Hopefully the young guy gets stronger.

Am I the only one who noticed the dropoff with Chet's play?
Chet chokes in big games unlike Mobley and if OKC can swap them straight up, they do it like pronto!

It's why they even offered SGA for Mobley during the draft.

Now they are going to lose the series to the Mavs!

This site trashed Mobley in comparison to Chet just two weeks ago. If Mobley was in Chet's role, he would be struggling the same (especially as currently constituted). The Mavs are not playing small (and they don't even have Kleber out there) and are rolling out 48 minutes of elite length, size and leaping ability. Those guys will have their hands full against Denver/Minnesota because both teams have power bigs.

Even Jokic plays with a 6'9 Gordon and 6'10 Porter Jr on the frontline. Asking your skinny 2nd year big to grab every defensive rebound and block every shot with no additiional rebounding help isn't a recipe for winning in the playoffs.

Are they asking Chet to grab every board or to just get a reasonable amount?

he was overmatched plain and simple. He's not a center and any legit center can body him and take him out of his game. His response should have been to make the Mavs pay from deep but he wasn't up to the task. Hopefully he can gain confidence, add way more muscle and get more aggressive so next time he does better.

Aside from Wemby I’m guessing…

He didn’t shoot the 3 well and was somewhat timid on offense. Otherwise he protected the rim well and contributed against a tough front line. Future’s real bright.

I predict a parallel to Mobley. While a better offensive player, Chet will never meet most public expectations playing next to his Donovan Mitchell in SGA.

That’s ok for the team because SGA’s on a level above Don, but from solely an individual player standpoint, Chet reaching his ceiling is questionable paired with such a high usage guard.

I cant believe some of ya really think if this dude where to scale up offensively he can lead a team lmao. It's just crazy to think.

Good player ( especially defensively) but I think he is gonna mostly be what he is offensively currently. A complementary piece that gets feed everything on offense ( ally oops, pick & pop 3, put backs, transition 3, etc).

Any team could use but he won't ever be a super star cause he doesn't have the offense bag to take over games.

Yeah, he was a 9.7 REB36 guy, or 12.9 PER100, in the RS. He's a solid, if unremarkable, defensive rebounder and kind of tepid on the offensive glass. He's also quite tall and his base isn't amazing, so none of that is super surprising.

His rebounding in Game 6 was pretty bleh, though, no doubt.

He was overrated when people were saying he was “for sure” better than Paolo. Banchero stepped up his game in the playoffs and looked like a legit #1 option who could carry his team past the first round if Franz and Suggs didn’t completely disappear. Chet is a really good #3 on a contender, and combined with his defense, makes him a special piece to have on your team, but his potential as a go-to scorer is vastly limited.
