I think it's too big for the whole thing to show up, the rest is here:

I don't really think it's simple and meaningless. It's convoluted and a symbol of Bennett's bush-league, underhanded tactics. If anything's "simple" it's the people who are "building the brand" of the Thunder. I think it is that bad.

I could go over to the Art Institute of Portland, an overpriced franchised art school, and get something at least as good. I could go over to Pacific Northwest College of Art and find a classically trained artist who at the very least would be able to hand-draw the letters so they didn't stick out like straight quills. Or hell, I could go to Weiden + Kennedy and get a real brand built by people who are at the top of their game. That logo was probably created by Bennett's out of work graphic designer nephew.

I don't think it's a terrible piece of graphic design. The "Thunder" text could use some work, but the rest is okay.

The concept is terrible. The basketball over a shield thing is easily the most spiritless and prosaic of NBA logos.

And the colors were a really bad choice. Not only because of the Bobcats and Warriors, but also by themselves.

All I know is, with a team name like Thunder, I expect to see some type of thunder/lighting graphic on the logo. All that logo says is blah.

All Im saying is that the logo looks like a WNBA logo, and I hate the WNBA, well except for Deanna Nolan and Nicole Powell.

The Colors are soft and the team will come out looking like kids on the Barney show.

They should have made it with a gigantic bada$$-looking grey cirrus cloud stabbing a basketball with a lightning bolt. LOL

This is just a prototype logo. All beginning logos suck at first sight. But it will evolve and look much better over time.

Great analysis of the logo btw - i do some minor graphics design and i can really relate to what your saying...

It just doesn't make much sense, they could have even done something cool with "lighting bolts" that spell out OKC so it looks like its a lighting storm but with OKC in it....

LOL @ Contemporary living room comment...

The logo reminds me of the types of generic logos you would see if you created a custom team in NBA Live or 2K.

That is, NBA Live 2000 or the original NBA 2K.

I don't know.. I like it.. look like something an elementary school would have if they have a basketball team.

Are there any other similar break downs of logos for other teams? I'd be curious to see those.
