Stars make their teammates better. I just don't see that with Mitchell. Missing 2 playoff games with minor injury? Pass.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Just insanity. Brunson and Mitchell cannot play together. And why would you want to take the ball out of Brunson's hands for an inferior player?

I think they can definitely play together. Brunson would still be the primary ball handler. It would be a small backcourt defensively, but they’d have size in the front court to make up for it with OG/Randle/Hartenstein.

Is that enough of a haul for the Cavs to trade Donovan Mitchell if he tells them he’s not re-signing with them? Does that beat the player packages that other teams will offer?

For the Knicks, 7 picks and 2 swaps *seems* like a lot on the surface, but hear me out: The 2024 Knicks/Mavs picks are late first rounders in a bad draft. The Detroit/Washington protected picks are late first rounders or would convert to 2nd rounders down the line. The Bucks protected pick will convert next year, but it’ll be another late first rounder with Dame on Giannis still there. The hope/expectation with the 2025/2027 swaps is that we will have the better team so the Cavs would have the better pick (and thus, not swap with us). The 2026 unprotected pick will be when our core is still very much in their prime. 2028 who knows, but that’s why there is top 10 protection there.

This would give the Knicks the following rotation with everyone in their prime for 3+ more years:

Jalen Brunson / FA
Donovan Mitchell / Donte DiVincenzo
OG Anunoby / Josh Hart
Julius Randle / FA / Josh Hart
Isaiah Hartenstein / Mitchell Robinson

Gotta go for it at some point. I think that team gives us a real shot to be a contender year in and year out.

it wasn't a great trade since it was always going to result in a very small backcourt with real issues defending. That said, this trade package is the going price for a star that gives you a chance to make a deep playoff run and that's what they got but it was derailed by injuries. So it's not as bad as people are making it out to be unless they lose Mitchell for nothing which we know they won't.

Agbaji is irrelevant. Sexton is jag. Markkanen is nice. The swaps may never happen and even if they did it would only likely be a minimal difference. The three FRP, if Mitchell stays, are likely all in the 20s. If they trade him now they can recoup some or all of them and they'll likely be higher picks than their own would have been (provided they keep Garland and Mobley and build around them and stay competitive) at the end of the day. Per usual on RealGM people are being hyperbolic.

Pending my 2 targets for this year's draft (Risacher and Knecht) being available at said slots (hell, I might pull the trigger as soon as Risacher was available, and just hope/swap for Knecht if off the table at 8) I'd be all over this personally.

today's trade would be as follows:

#2 overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft
Jordan Poole (he will do much better in Cleveland)
Corey Kispert (highly underrated)

I might pay you to KEEP Poole...

I agree with your assessment, more or less. But this offer is really a bit of a nothing-burger anyway, so both teams should probably pass.

This offer basically fills out their bench and the Cleveland Charge's roster. It's like fairy-floss, there's nothing really there... :dontknow:

DLo, Mitchell, LeBron, Rui, Allen

Another interesting question would be, where does Donovan Mitchell make sense? What's his ideal environment to get a ring?
