I was very surprised when I checked the boxscore for tonight's game and saw that Tristan Thompson was still playing regular rotation minutes in 2024.

Worse yet, I was even more surprised when I clicked on his name and saw that the guy is still 33 years old. I kid you not, I was quite sure he was at least 38.

Interesting, considering he cracked 40 ONCE in the 2 rounds he played that year, and never hit 50. But he DID have 2 50-point games in 2020 against Denver, which were split (1W, 1L), before his team bowed out. I much prefer today's version of Donovan myself. Well-rounded, gave everyone a chance to get involved, and it worked.

Celtics (-2.5 series) still the favorites to win this series 4-1 even after that ugly loss. This is just a replay of the Heat series, giving hope to the other team but it's actually just as one-sided as predicted pre-series. LOL

Have to assume Mitchell over Jrue, but Jrue is so important to the team.

Someone needs to get down into the corners on offense, set up plays on offense, and defend like a bulldog. Not many guys out there willing to fill this role, and Jrue EXCELS at it.

Yep. In a vacuum, Mitchell is clearly the better player at this point.
But Jrue is just about the ultimate 5th man. Takes nothing off the table, and is so good at making both the offence and the defence connect.

There's just no challenge in the East so it's easier to pick them. You are correct, any series against a West team and it's a toss up at best and they won't be big favorites.

I dismiss the idea that the Cavs have a roster that could beat the Celtics roster. Fully healthy and playing at their peak they don't have the guns for it.

I don't see it and there's no evidence you can bring that says otherwise. The Celtics are just a better more talented team and that's ok.

If the Celtics don't want to protect the baseline and let the Cavs drive to the hoop with ease then maybe they can pull of a win or two.

Seems more realistic. Strus and Mobley are down the list a bit with Pritchard/ Kornet/ Hauser

The implication of quoting my post after one game and making that statement is that the one game made a difference.

And defense or not, Tatum didn't look like he belonged on the same planet as Mitchell in that one game.

Better to leave White lower than that, and Garland higher than Horford, rather than overreact to one game (or in White's case an extended stretch)

Yeah I would have said the same before game 1. Garland is offense only , white has been exceptional all year. Horford is amazing.
Tatum had a good all around game. Great D. Shooting was off but still had a positive impact…

I would backtrack one thing in my post. Mobley should be higher.

Mobley and Garland. They are both more impactful than Jrue and Horford.

And Tatum is....not very close to Mitchell right now. I'm sure he will play better, but that's looking rough for him at the moment
