Remember when Lebron tried to get Spo fired?

yep, Spo was absolutely as good in his first year as he is now....which this stupidly infers, lol

Spo had 2 full seasons under his belt before Lebron was there....

Celtics beat the Heat 104-84, do you all still want us to bow down to Spoelstra again? Smh. Don’t get how this thread got to 7 pages.

I’ll take Malone over Spoelstra as a coach and that is my opinion, disagree if you want but respect it.

Bad coaching performance from Spo tonight. He only coached them to 9 made three pointers instead of 23.

Any coach who's team only scores 12 points in a quarter is pretty much eliminated from "Greatest coach in the league talk". You could have taken any average Joe from the crowd, put him in charge of the Heat for a quarter, and they probably would have had their team score more than 12 points.

Can't really fault the coach if his players aren't hitting shots against decent defense.

Let's be honest, Spoelstra is one of the GOAT NBA coaches.

Yeah, but haven't you heard? Today's (2024) NBA is so much better than the old days. In today's NBA where there are more 3 pointers shot in a quarter than there used to be in a whole season (or even before there was a thing as a 3 point shot), it just completely negates any and all old records / references. Whereas before defensive games were a thing to be admired and complimented, today, if you're team can't score at least 30 points or more in a quarter there must be some kind of a problem.
So, Spo not being able to score more than 12 points in today's apparently much, much better, higher level NBA is simply inexcusable, and therefore reason to excuse him from any talk of greatness.

Yes, Spo is still the best coach in the league.

He's certainly way up there(and what happened today wasn't his fault), but I'll take Pops as #1 as long as he's still coaching in the league.

This thread didn’t age well. It was just one game. Hate it when people start pointless threads after one game, but it is whatever.

Yeah this didn't age well at all.

But I regret nothing.

The NBA coach is somewhat overrated. They can't lead a bad team to greatness. They can however make a good team worse. (not saying Spo did that, I'm talking about a different coach)
