And it goes the other way, too. There's a reason DeAndre is still in the league and it's the same reason Dwight hasn't been in the league for a couple of years. Even though they'd probably offer similar stuff when they step out onto the floor.

Top end talent is so rare that you have to accept a certain level of unprofessionalism because it is hard to get such highly skilled guys. When it comes to the mid-tier players, though, imagine the bell curve. There is a greater frequency of players at the mid and lower tiers. So that means if you have guys at the same talent level, you take the ones that will show up every day and help establish that culture of working hard every day.
At the end of the day, it's not about wins and losses. Teamwork, fair play, and good sportsmanship make champions of us all.

Go arbitrary assortment of athletes! Beat the other arbitrary assortment of athletes or my mood will suffer!
