There are two NBA franchises where the leader in career points has more than twice as many points as the player in second place. Who are the two franchises (and the players)?

Dallas:
Nowitzki - 31.5k (almost)
Blackman - 16.6k

Indiana:
Miller - 25.2k (almost)
Smits - 12.8k

Cleveland:
LeBron - 23k
Ilgauskas - 10k

Chicago:
Jordan - 29.2k (almost)
Pippen - 15.1k

Only Cleveland then, as far as I could find.

There are many teams where the 1st leading scorer has double the points of the 3rd leading scorer, though.

Cleveland is correct.

The other franchise is the Miami Heat.

1. Dwyane Wade 21556
2. Alonzo Mourning 9459

We've established that 5 different NBA franchises were, at some time, based in New York State.

What's another state of which that is true?

1. Kevin Johnson (Sacramento is the city IRC)
2. Bill Bradley (70s Knicks player)
3 and 4. I don't know.

3 is maybe Mutombo or Turkoglu? 4 perhaps is Iguodala? Not sure.

Edit: 4 could be Omri Casspi? I don't know about the part where he is much taller than his partner though.

I found one when I was looking up the Clippers on bb-ref, but that one wasn't easy and I wouldn't have thought of him if I hadn't looked for it. So I probably found a second one in addition to the one you are looking for.

I can't think of an obvious one. So I'll wait until you reveal the player you had in mind.

In the early years of basketball, what used to occur after each made basket?

Looked that up after the death of George McGinnis the other day.

Who had the most total point in ABA history?

They had to get the ball out of the basket because it was literally a basket and not a ring with an open net?

Nope, not quite. Hint: this also use to occur at the start of each half.

1) Kevin Johnson

-- Correct. But not the only example.

2) Bill Bradley

-- Correct.

3) Don't know.
4) Magic?

-- Not to my knowledge. And that question is much harder than the others. Like impossibly difficult unless you happen to know about him from the venture capital side.

Actually, I may have posted about the answer to #4 before. He's the only NBA player I know personally.

Turkoglu is correct.

The most likely way to have known this is to recall that he's on the Erdogan side of the Erdogan/Kanter feud.

That would be my answer too.

The drop-through net was probably invented pretty early, however.

edit: 1906, per WIkipedia. So 15 years after Naismith invented the game. Before that, they had the idea of leaving enough of a hole in the basket that the ball could be poked out with a stick.

Hints on the big-city mayor who wasn't Kevin Johnson:

-- He stepped into what was regarded as a crisis situation.
-- He was a successful businessman first.

You have heard this already if you listened to the Hoop Collective podcast in Vegas:

Joel Embiid was first in the league in points per game the last two seasons. He leads the league in ppg again this season. Who was the last big man who had the most points per game in the NBA three years in a row?
