why it is well-deserved? Both SGA and Luka have better case for MVP than Joker.

Nope.

SGA took his team to higher heights than any other player.
Luka has better stats (#1 in PPG, #2 in assists, top 15 in rebounds in whole NBA); also took his team from missing playoffs to top 5.

A class act by one of 76ers fans who I always respected (even though I might disagree with you a lot)
That's the way to tell team fans from a certain player fans.
I wish you even better Maxey next season and do something smart will all the cap space you might create. Beware of Playoff P.

Don't be so certain! It appears he was just trying to rack up some +1s on the General Board.

Here's his statement on the Philadelphia board:

LordCovington33 wrote:Once he retires or moves to a different team, their fanbase will go back to what it was before, barely filling up 75% of the arena.

Well, not sure about the arena thing, but yes, the internet fanbase of Denver will shrink for sure, including myself. You could say the same for Mavs if/when Luka decides to take his talents to <>. Again, including myself.
I mean, I do have "my" team in football (the real one) - that team once constantly in the Champions League, including playoff stage from time to time, is now embarrassing itself in the 3rd tier competition - and I still won't switch teams, but in NBA I'm like many europeans following my fav players and their current teams, nothing wrong with that (until it becomes an unhealthy obsession, where it has to stop, you know what/who I mean  )

I think one could’ve made a valid objective argument for SGA, which is why he actually got a decent number of 1st place votes. Advanced metrics weren’t actually clear cut for Jokic. Jokic was ahead in LEBRON, DPM, BPM, etc. But SGA was actually ahead in EPM, which is a good metric. Meanwhile, while they had the same record, SGA’s team did get the #1 seed—which I think does matter despite the records being the same, because it genuinely has led to an easier second-round playoff matchup and would lead to home-court advantage if the two teams met. That said, the Thunder supporting cast was notably healthier than the Nuggets. On balance I think things lean towards Jokic, and obviously so did the voters, but I think one could reasonably have voted for SGA, and SGA very likely would’ve won the award if you took a little bit off of Jokic’s case (i.e. for instance, if the Nuggets won several fewer games something).

That one was on Bret Brown. The ‘ers completely smothered the Raptors at the end of game 7, but he couldn’t draw up a single offensive play to save his life. Yeah, ‘Biid was both hobbled and had a GI bug, but Jimmy, as usual, was clutch down the stretch, and it took Leonard’s brilliant 4-banger over the over-rated Simmons to seal the deal, and go on to win the title. Bret had failed to develop unicorn Ben, but was resigned by the clueless Harris, who agreed to deal Butler for dassing to call it like it is. Bret went on to pass on SGA, while trading a decent homegrown PF, who we could have used, for the star-crossed, positionless Zhaire.

I’d love to get Jimmy back together with ‘Biid, now with Maxey and Nurse, but hate to think what Pat would charge.

Higher heights? The Thunder had the same record as the Nuggets. Jokic had 9 more wins as a player than Luka. PPG and Assists but almost every other statistical metric Jokic had him beat. That’s with having way less usage and minutes than Luka. What else

What are the escape goats for playoff failures

Injuries
Illness
Simmons
James
Coaches

What more excuses are we giving Embiid for Embiid not making past the second round. Did I miss anything else?

Cubbies loves looking at and using information from our subsection to use against sixers fans here. The above is an example.
Thank you for your post. Anyway, I am not wrong. Look at the attendance records over the last few years since Jokic turned the team around. 7-8 years ago they had the worst attendance in the league - 14,000 fans a match (less than 75% actually). Stats back that up. IMO, most of the “Denver” fanaticism you see on message boards nowadays is from those supporting their fellow countryman, rather than the team itself. Same is the case with a lot of LeBron fans. As for my quote, once Jokic retires or leaves, the fanbase will shrink to what it was before (as with most small market teams). Not sure if stating the obvious on our team subforum was worth quoting here though.lol
I said Jokic deserved MVP ( which he did). However, since it came from a sixers/embiid fan, he wants to think there is some other motive. It’s fine.
Have a good day, and good luck for the rest of the series.

Holy smokes - I love all the spins you threw in there. Blame Bret - check. Blame Simmons - check. You now say you'd love to see what Embiitch/Maxey/Butler with Nurse as a coach would do. Like, how much help does Embiid need?

Jokic just won a title without a single all-star, all-D, or all-NBA player and we're sitting here talking about the 76ers wanting to stack the deck with 3 all-stars and likely HOFers + Nurse for a chance at a title.

I needed the laugh today, so thank you!

I'll be honest, I can't stand Jokic, but some of the names being thrown around got a good chuckle out of me. He.....errrrr..... deserves it.

Probably don't need to give this attention, but his winning it has a 16 page post:

I wonder if the sportsbooks paid off the voters, becasue SGA had some pretty big returns if people betted on him in the preseason.

I had sga getting my vote. However no problem at all for Jokic winning and happy for him. A great career just got another award added to his already lengthy resume. Congratulations.

Why would it matter is he get swept then?

Im new? NBA media used it as their main argument to discredit Joker last season.
