Book it.

book it. this guy is unconscious. while just about every other starter looks sick, tired and doesn't seem to care during this three game skid, peja has been on fire for over a month.

its nothing for him to get 6 or 7 threes made each night.
if people like chris and west stopped turning it over, it might mean that they actually win.

my money is on peja and than kapono. while peja is on fire and has actually been playing big minutes and is a starter, he's also had some funny shots go up this year - like complete airballs, hitting the top of the backboard - so kapono has a better shot than most people think.

everyone else can just skip it. rip has no chance. he's having a great year, but he's not a natural three point shooter.

I love how everybody is making a big deal about the 3PT%'s. The league leader attempts two threes a game. LOL.

Yea Kobe only shoots 35% from 3 point range, but what no one has brought up yet is the fact that out of all the players on that list Kobe is the only one who gets double teamed consistently even at 3 point range.

Kobe also puts up more prayer end of shot clock, quarter, half, game shots. You take away all the ridiculously difficult 3s that Kobe attempts and he would immediately become a 40%+ shooter from behind the 3. Take away the double teams, hell take away being guarded and it is VERY POSSIBLE for Kobe to win.

Will he win? I have no idea, but to say it is impossible is just (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

Uh........ Rip shot a horrible 34.1% from three last season, I have no idea what you are talking about. He wasn't even top-80 last season.

He meant the year before last (the '05-'06 season), and Rip is currently 6th in the NBA in 3pt shooting.

Just because Rip is known for mid-range game doesn't mean he can't shoot the 3.... this is exactly why he wanted to be in the contest.

Peja will win this.

Rip, Kobe and Nash don't belong here.

I think it's great there's two big-time stars in it, and Peja is back for it

I'm going to say Peja wins it.

Pono or Kobe.

They both can get hot and go on streaks, and that's the end of it.

Parasight wrote:Those of you defending the decisions, saying it's purely a business move, explain to me this. How can you be "entertaining" in a 3PT Contest? Sure Gilbert Arenas threw up his one-handed shots last year, but come on gimmicks die quick. Somewhere along the line the meaning of the 3PT Contest lost itself. Competition is entertaining. This is why I would love to see them bring back the split-screen where two guys go at the same time Head-to-Head.

The move doesn't draw people because kobe is a more entertaining 3pt shooter then say, Anthony Parker. It draws people because kobe is 100X more famous then parker. It's the name that does. More people are going to watch if they get to see guys like kobe and nash.

I agree with you though, the split screen thing is more exciting in my opinion. Though it beats up your eyes a bit.

EDIT: When Peja is hot, no one is better then he is from 3. If he gets hot, he has it hands down. I hope kobe wins it though.

It's all about the stars, having Nash and Bryant in there is a good idea. This one's going to be exciting to watch.

It don't matter though, Kapono or Peja will win.

The NBA is desperate for ratings so they put Kobe on Night 1. W/O Kobe, I wasn't going even to watch Night 1...

Brent Barry is the first player to win the Slam Dunk Contest and be a competitor in the 3-Point shoot-out. He didn't win the 3-point contest too.

Kobe will win.
