Wade is a lock but with the real ballots Iverson will be a West guard and should lose a chunk of votes there because of guys like Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, Chris Paul, Deron WIlliams, Steve Nash and Jason Kidd.
Starbury's done more inside and outside the NBA than Curry with his whole shoes thing.
Maybe someone can make like a t-shirt or try and make those wrist band things like the LIVESTRONG band? We can make it cool to vote for Starbury like it is cool to vote for Obama.
Oh, believe me. I want to vote both of them in. I'll probably be voting for Marbury, Wade, Marion, Beasley, and Curry every time I vote. But I think it will be a lot harder to vote a guard in in the East than a center. There are plenty of good guards in the East, and all of them have a loyal fan base behind them. Lets look at the guards of the East.
Wade is a lock. No matter what happens, he will be starting. Then the two most likely people after him to get voted in are Iverson (he's on the East ballot) and Vince Carter. They are both recognizable names that the casual fan will vote for. Beating one of those two will be hard as it is, but there are many more guards after them. There's Joe Johnson, Gilbert Arenas, Ray Allen, and Jose Calderon. These are all guards that have either played well (Joe Johnson), have name recognition (Gilbert Arenas, Ray Allen because he just won a championship), or have a loyal fan base behind them who we will need on our side to vote Marbury in (Jose Calderon).
I think its easier to vote in a center because most people already think its a lock for Dwight anyway so they won't be as enthused to vote for him everyday. Plus, the only people we would be competing against is the casual NBA fan and Magic fans. For guard, we will have to compete against many fan bases who feel their team's guard deserves to make it to the All-Star game. Fanbases for teams like Toronto, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Washington, Detroit, along with fans of players such as Vince Carter, Allen Iverson, Gilbert Arenas, and Dwyane Wade.
DuckIII wrote:All 3 of them joining forces in Miami is the NBA's worst nightmare (shared by TNT, ABC, and ESPN)...it is a simple, irrefutable fact, that Wade/LeBron/Bosh in Miami is pretty much the worst possible result from a business perspective.

Big problem is there isn't much incentive for non-NBA fans to do this since you actually have to sign up and have an NBA account to vote.

1. He has never been to an All-Star game
2. He sucks.
3. He got mad when he didnt make it to the All-Star game 2 years ago.
4. He actually thinks he deserves it.
I don't know about you guys, but I'll be voting for Starbury and Curry. I think it would be pretty funny if they both made it.
This is just plain mean
But I'm in...on the Steph idea.

Re: Starbury
Don't vote for Wade a vote for Wade and Starbury is useless.
Last year's votes...
Centers: Dwight Howard (Orl) 2,066,991; Shaquille O?Neal (Mia) 965,171; Rasheed Wallace (Det) 303,978; Andrew Bogut (Mil) 283,576; Ben Wallace (Chi) 256,604;
Jermaine O?Neal (Ind) 217,675; Zydrunas Ilgauskas (Cle) 205,152; Emeka Okafor (Char) 147,447; Eddy Curry (NY) 107,279; Zaza Pachulia (Atl) 98,593.
There's less competition in turns of number but Dwight Howard is really hard to beat. He has 2 million votes and will probably get more as more people recognize him as the Superman dunk guy. Besides, Dwight deserves an All star spot more than whatever East guard not called Wade does. There are more players to compete with for the East guards but the objective is to get top 2 in voting. Last year, Kidd, the other East guard had the least votes of all starters.
Guards: Dwyane Wade (Mia) 1,608,260; Jason Kidd (NJ) 1,246,386; Ray Allen (Bos) 1,061,740; Vince Carter (NJ) 981,050; Gilbert Arenas (Wash) 797,502; Chauncey Billups (Det) 625,772; Michael Redd (Mil) 375,243; Richard Hamilton (Det) 308,357; Joe Johnson (Atl) 253,308; T.J. Ford (Tor) 253,216.
Marbury already has a bit of press as the guy who sold $15 basketball shoes. No one knows who Eddy Curry is.

Re: Starbury
Should we bring signs to the NBA games that we go to? Regardless if the Knicks are playing?
I just got free tickets to the Clippers vs Mavs game on Dec 28th. My seats are going to be in this section:
I'm thinking of a sign that says:
1 VOTE 4 MARBURY = 1 VOTE for YAO MING
or
1 VOTE 4 MARBURY = 1 VOTE for Yi
VOTE STEPHON MARBURY for All-Star 09'!
but I gotta know people are serious about this!

Digg users look at http://digg.com/basketball/upcoming and try and find the Marbury one and 'digg' it.

It embarrassing that this is what Marbury is reduced to. The man can still play, and if given the opportunity, the put up at least 15 and 8 in this league.
I will not join this effort as I think there are more deserving scrubs to vote in before you chose Marbury. He is certainly no Lavor Postell (extra points for people who were on RealGm in 2003, and who understand)

Count me in. Let the man play! He can't make the Knicks rotation but he should be able to make the all star team.

thats one of the main reasons though... the guy is still a talent, and should be playing on a team somewhere, i think it would be great to see his coach not even play him for one game, yet the fans put the guy in the all-star game

Starbury's a great choice, Josh Boone would've been awesome too though. 1) He's Josh Boone 2) He's probably the 2nd or 3rd best player on the Nets. But yeah, Howard is unbeatable so it'd probably be difficult.

Re: Starbury
We should all have the same sig in support of Starbury. But this concerns me:
http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... out_talks/
Cmon Starbury, don't screw this up for us!
