I have no idea. I looked this up for 10 minutes and couldn't find anything in common.

It has to do with the Defensive Player of the Year award. But yes, it's a hard one unless you've read about it somewehere.

Answer:
Spoiler:
All four made the All-Defensive first team in one season over the DPOY. The DPOY only made 2nd team.

Maurice Cheeks in 1985-86 over DPOY Alvin Robertson
David Robinson in 1994-95 over DPOY Dikembe Mutombo
Dwight Howard in 2011-12 over DPOY Tyson Chandler
Joakim Noah (and also Chandler) in 2012-13 over DPOY Marc Gasol

Which former All-Star did not win an NBA championship in his prime, but one in his rookie season, one in his sophomore season, and one in his last season at age 38 - all as a bench player.

Which players never won a title, played in (at least) two finals matchups of the same two teams, played (at least) once for Team A and once for Team B - and were always part of the losing team?

I can think of two, but maybe there are more.

One of mine that I don't recall being answered:

When Joe Dumars recruited Chauncey Billups to the Pistons, that evidently was their first cap room FA signing in a while, if ever. So they renounced the rights to years of retired players -- including Joe Dumars.

Another:

It's generally believed that the Celtics, having traded three FRPs for Bob McAdoo, quickly traded him away for one FRP -- which wound up being the first pick overall, and was flipped to get Robert Parish and draft McHale.

But actually, that whole transaction was a drastic expansion of the compensation deal for Pistons free agent M. L. Carr.

One answer is in this thread! viewtopic.php?p=109541305#p109541305

In another, the story involves a bet between the player's father and a fan of the team the player's almost-namesake starred for.

Anderson Varejao? always think of him as a Cav but I remember he was on the Warriors when they beat the Cavs, he had to have lost a finals with the Cavs though.

Learned a surprising one the other day. Who was the fastest player to hit 1000 3s in his career (at 350 games)?

All I'll give you is that it is not a member of the Golden State Warriors

I think I read a longer time ago that Markkanen was the fastest to a different milestone (100 or 500). I don't know if he has the 1000 too, but that would be my guess.

Both correct.

Varejao lost with the Cavs to the Warriors in 2015. He was traded and then acquired by the Warriors during the 15-16 season and lost in the Finals to the Cavs.

Now the question is whether my question is correct, because I wrote "never won a title". Varejao was waived during the 16-17 season and the Warriors won the title. On bb-ref and other sites that doesn't count as a title for him, but wikipedia says: "The Warriors went on to win the NBA championship in 2017, and as a result, Varejão was offered a championship ring, which he accepted."

So he kind of won a title.

The other player I was looking for was part of both Miami vs. Dallas Finals.

The Sixers recently had a game where three players (Embiid, Maxey, Harris) had more than 30 points. It's very rare for three teammates to have 30+ points in the same game.

The New York Knicks once had a game like that in the 60s, when Richie Guerin (39), Willie Naulls (31) and Cleveland Buckner (33) achieved the same feat.

But nobody cared.

Why did nobody care?

Circling back to another of my questions, it seems:

-- Chuck Connors Person was named after the actor and NBA player Chuck Connors.
-- Isaiah Thomas was named after Isiah Thomas.

The first all-defensive teams were for the 1969-69 season. They of course featured a bunch of HoF players.

Also, they featured 4 guys who were selected to the HoF for non-playing reasons. Who were they?

All teams that won atleast 50 games during the regular season are unbeatable in a playoffs series against Jokic-lead team.(2019 Blazers, 2020 Lakers, 2021 Suns, 2022 Warriors and 2024 Timberwolves).

Who won Defensive Player of the Year while starting only a couple of games?

Who won Defensive Player of the Year while starting about half the games in which he played?
