Redraft 2022 - who are the top 10?

Post#1 » by One_and_Done » Sun Feb 11, 2024 1:11 am

It's early, but who would go top 10 in a redraft of 2022?

My rough thoughts at this time would be:

1. Chet (#3)
2. Paolo (#1)
3. Jaylen Williams (#12)
4. Sharpe (#7)
5. Keegan (#4)
6. Sochan (#9)

After that it gets tough with guys like Mathurin, Kessler, Ivey, Smith, etc, clogging up the list.

I'll say this in every redraft thread: don't evaluate the picks until they're through their first contract it's just too soon.

I said it's early, but it's not too early to speculate. I think perspectives at this point in time are interesting to consider.

Hold up now… what is rationale for having Shaedan Sharpe so high?

I loved the guy, but is there something besides the actual results that get him to 4th in a redraft? Cuz his stats suck.

Paolo over Chet. Paolo has the legit potential to average 30/7/7 in a season in his prime

Only players to ever average that:

Oscar Robertson
MJ
Bron
Westbrook
Luka

Even if you think Chet will be better (which I don't buy into), he already has gone through one foot injury & is one more foot injury from being done for his career unfortunately

Obviously we're projecting here, given it's year 2.

Agree with you and @richard4444 top 3 and generally ricahard4444 list.

Sochan year 2 ruined so far by being played out of position. Might help long term or not. No idea. Weird he was trusted with running a team out of position with most hyped prospect ever.

Yes, lbj had hype but social media and the internet is more common now.

I thought Sochan looked much better last year.

P.s looking at other lists, I like Jalen Duran higher than most.

Sochan year 2 'ruined' by a 20-game PG experiment 33 games ago? Meanwhile he's averaging almost 10% better from 3 compared to last season (now at 34.2%), almost 8% better FTs from last season (now at 77.5%), slightly higher rebounds and assists per game, regularly guarding 1 through 4, often the best players.

I'd put Sochan at around 6-7, Jaylen Williams obviously higher than 12, Mathurin and Sharpe and Daniels lower than 6, 7, 8.

I'm fine with whatever top 5 of Paolo, Chet, Jaylen, Keegan, Smith order. I prefer two-way versatile guys and those who can spread the floor to boot so I favour Sochan a little higher than his slot, also considering he's younger than some lotto players from *this* year's draft. I'd have Duren a bit higher than his draft selection, Kessler a bit higher, and Eason a bit higher, too, but not in single digit lotto slots, taking into consideration the other factors I mentioned.

As an earlier poster said, need to wait at least until the end of the rookie contracts before making these calls.

That being said, my top 5 in order right now would be Chet, Paolo, Jalen Williams, Duren and Murray.

Ivey's stock has dropped largely due to being misused (and underused) by Monty Williams, but over the past 5 games now that he has been given free reign and is essentially playing as the first equal option with Cade, his numbers are:

26.2 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.8 apg on 49% FG, 59% 3PT (6.4 attempts per game)

Will be interesting to see how this class continues to develop and evolve.

1. Paolo - I'm taking the guy who has shown he can be the guy for a team, and plays almost every game
2. Chet - Still worried about injuries, that said, he is an efficiency king
3. Jaylen Williams - Love his game, I wouldn't be surprised if when it's all said and done he is a multi time all star
4. Duren - Guys like this don't come around every year. Threat for 20-10 guy at this age is wild
5. Jabari Smith Jr - The Dream of 6'10" Klay lives on

after one and half year, you can not take at #1 the guy who missed an entire year, lol.

and Chet was my number one at time, still is in term of talent/potential,but Banchero is just too safe in terms of durability for the future.

#1 Banchero
#2 Holmgren
#3 Williams
#4 Ivey (yeah,i think the untapped potential it is still there, classic guy needs an efficient organization to shine)
#5 Duren (same as the above)
#6 Kessler
#7 Murray
#8 Mathurin
#9 Smith (how he could be in consideration for #1 pick?draft mistery)
# 10 Sharpe (get the talent it's there, can't trust his head)

Compare Sharpe's numbers to Ivey's. I don't see how Sharpe is that high. Same with Sochan, really. I like their potential, but I like the potential of the other guys there too. I could see clumping all of those guys together after the clear top-3 (Chet, Paolo, JDub), but I don't think you could say Sharpe or Sochan have cleared the likes of Mathurin, Ivey, Duren, and Smith Jr.

Who would you say is the better player here?

1. Paolo obviously
2. Chet
3. J Williams
4. I’ll go Ivey - he’s been grossly misused but starting to show it now
5. Sharpe
6. Jabari but I’m not excited abt it
7. Duran
8. Murray
9. Kessler
10.sochan

I’m not convinced Jalen Williams is 3rd, and he’s not lower than that.

I'm projecting out here, not going off who has the most ppg on a bad team. Sochan for instance is never going to be a big ppg guy, but the player type he flashes is incredibly valuable nonetheless.

thing is, scoring now ain't what it used to be. it's hard to argue that only 7 players in history has accomplished that without taking into account the explosion in scoring, it would have been near impossible for most candidates to score 30, playing the the style of old

with that said, ur right on the money regarding the injury concerns
just because Chet has managed to survive 2/3rds of one season (yay!) doesn't negate the risk

the injury risk alone, with his stature, body type and injuri history - keeps Paolo 1st, easily
