with respect to kyrie, he didn't get injured like harden/KD. Harden pre-hamstring injury was a beast but still a playoff choker. And we know that pre-achilees injury KD was a top-2 player in the league.
We're also forgetting that Dallas didn't even make the playoffs last year. But good on the organization to know what the team needed and made the right moves during the trade deadline to make sure Luka/Kyrie have a squad to be successful.
True about injuries but that's not why any of them left.
Mavs were fined for their hard tank that netted the 10th (I think) pick. So it's not like they sucked but adding the pick and the talent we're huge risk-reward swings.
And the Luka-Kyrie pairing was not questioned with respect to talent but to fit, 'there's only one ball', will one drive the other away?, etc. I wonder whether this pairing would have worked out as well had either not have gone through what they had with previous team mates. But they've matured enough and learned to adjust to one another.
