People also mean that in the sense that you can't trade any of those picks either. The Suns literally have 0 assets and no path for improvement to go from a team that got swept to becoming a champion.

The it's still wrong, because the suns can trade their 2024 and 2031 picks if they wanted to. The other picks can be traded on draft night.

Regardless, that's not what I was responding to. The statement was the suns don't have a pick until 2030, when in fact they have 4 pick including the 2030 pick.

Also, the "no path for improvement" arguments is literally what people were writing here on Realgm about the Wolves and Mavericks 12 months ago.

Fair enough except for the part KD is getting closer to retirement and the other team don't have a star player they have to worry about like that lol.

The Wizards have swap rights for all of them, including 2030. Although Wizards suck so bad that they don't gotta worry about swaps for now lol

Even if the swaps convert (they may or may not) that doesn't mean that the Suns don't have a first round pick.

There's kind of a big difference between "you don't have a first round pick for the next 6 years" and "you've got 3 first round picks in the next 6 years, including one in two months - and the other first picks could potentially be lower".

I was curious so I looked it up:

Here is where all those picks will be going, and if it’s a swap, what picks the Suns could have
2024-Least favorable of Suns, Grizzlies, or Wizards
2025-Nets (Unprotected)
2026-Least favorable of Suns, Wizards, or Magic
2027-Nets (Unprotected)
2028-Least favorable of Suns, Wizards, or Nets
2029-Nets (Unprotected)
2030-Least favorable of Suns, Wizards, or Grizzlies

Sure. It's his fault. Not the roster construction. Someone has to take the fall when you can't trade Beal. Or admit that acquiring him was a mistake. Just one bad decision after another. Then again, he may not want to return.
It's not Vogel's fault that picking up Beal to play PG was a huge mistake. The Suns have Booker and Gordon at SG. Beal was what messed up the Suns, not Vogel.

thats a big harsh and Lebron is not getting 6 titles, in fact he would be lucky to win 2 titles in that run. If KD never joined warriors then it would not have been this universe and warriors would still be the favorite to win in 16.

You mean 2017? And no they woldnt have

The 2017 Cavs were even better than the 2016 Cavs

I think they would have beat the 2017 Spurs or 2017 GS without KD. Who knows maybe OKC would have made a different move, but I think we were going to win

I assume Kyrie is staying in 2017-2018 if we win in 2017. And if he still wants out for some reason or say we lose in 2017, I bet the trade is either different or we use the pick to go all in if there isn't a monster team in GS

the difference between the two teams are small enough its a coin flip. It's even a smaller variance when you consider Klay has not been good for either 15 or 16 finals, he was just getting to his peak and he would have gotten off at least 1 of those finals

and I'm pretty sure a Boston 2028 is their only 2nd round pick until 2031
Spurs pick this year is protected 31 to 49

I think Edwards has a chance to be as great as Jordan if he plays at this level for 10 years.

Let's pump the breaks here... You're saying that Ant can be as good as the GOAT? He's awesome, but I don't think he'll be in the GOAT discussion?
You're likely right.

I was thinking how good was MJ at age 22? I know Jordan ruled from day one. But over the next 10 years, Edwards might have multiple championships.

I wonder how ticket sales and merchandise will go down when the team tanks? They're not going to recover from this.

mj was 28 when he won his first title. he was great from his rookie season, when he was 21. ant has had more time to develop in the nba as mj played 3 years in college. trust me, ant is the first player ive seen compared to mj that actually compares. im not going to put a ceiling on him, but he can shoot the 3 better than mj, that's for sure. mj would have worked on the 3 ball if he was playing today and would've likely been lights out from there tho

Exactly, so in summary

The suns:
- have their own pick in 2024
- might have a lower first-round pick in 26, 28, 30
- don't have a pick three years (25, 27,29)

If they wanted to they could trade two first rounders this off-season.

I'm not arguing they're in a good situation, but they have 4 first round picks over the next 7 drafts, not zero.

Suns can do Vogel a favor and fire him. He gets his money and doesn’t have to deal with a roster with 5 SG and no PG, a lack of quality forwards besides KD, and Nurk (who is fine)/Eubanks at center.

Besides, you know KD is going to bitch up a storm until he gets out of there before next year.

Leaders in +/- for each first-round series: Rudy Gobert (+62), Jalen Williams (+60), Franz Wagner (+52), Myles Turner (+48), Jrue Holiday (+46), Joel Embiid (+34), Luka Doncic (+32), D'Angelo Russell (+15)

I’m a little sad for Book, even though I don’t like his frontrunner attitude. If he wants to be a one-teamer, he has three years of Beal to live through and six years of diminished draft picks. If he wants to stay, he’s about to waste a decent portion of his prime.

I'm glad Rudy is making me look good for defending the Gobert trade at the time. Wolves suffered from a bunch of injuries last season and never had enough time to gel. They were a lot better last year already than people were giving them credit for.
