What do you guys think?

At least guys like Ewing and others made it to the finals, and they never even won MVP either..

Let's keep Big Pat's name out of such conversations. He wasn't the transcendent talent once projected but he was a guaranteed ticket to the semis almost regardless of the cast around him and made a bunch of CFs and Finals. It was disappointing he never won but I would say in a lot of regards he overachieved.

I agree. I was just thinking of the greats who never won it all but at least could be counted on to make CFs and finals like you said. Not really saying Big Pat underachieved, just was thinking of the greats who never got their ring.

And I think Embiid has got to be at the top of underachievers or at least top 3, how do you win MVP but never make it to even a CF.

I mean what's the list of MVPs that haven't won a ring? Embiid, Harden, Westbrook, Rose, Nash, Iverson, K.Malone, & Barkley? Just objectively speaking, Embiid's definitely seen the least playoff success of that group.

A first round exit against a team he claimed his team was better than…in 5 games no less, would do some insane damage to his legacy. And would also invalidate that MVP he got even more last year, which I never believed he even deserved.

Everyone is tired. Its playoff basketball

Jokic be looking out of breath half the time but still always finds a way to get it done

i think jokic is fairly well conditioned. i don't think embiid is, or has been in awhile.

Now I’m curious what date did Embiid have the scope surgery done? And when did he get back in the gym and start running?

I have to say. It’s incredible to watch a baby like embiid lose. He tries to injure the entire squad and he still loses. Lmao what a bum. Dood can’t even win on his home floor against a guy who is 14 inches shorter, and instead tries to injure him too. This is poetic justice. What a loser

Year after year Embiid fans come out in October talking about how this is the best player in the NBA and greatest offensive force since Jordan.

It’s crazy, honestly.

He’s injured and being run into the ground because his team is horrific when he sits so hardly surprising that he’s running out of gas

if he's injured every season (not an exaggeration, it's literally every season), maybe we should start factoring that into his ranking? Maybe sixers' fans should stop proclaiming him as the best player in the NBA whenever he has a good stretch in the regular season?

For players of this caliber (top 5-10), playoffs matter a lot more than regular season numbers. Yes it's cool when he scores 70 points on Charlotte on a Tuesday in January but it's not the determining factor for "best player in the league".

Do whatever you want

I’m not a Sixers fan so it doesn’t bother me either way

I made fun of the "bad bounces" part on our forum but the whole thing is a gem. It's almost as if offensive rebounding is part of our strategy??? After 4 games??? You're just getting this you big dummy???

Let’s be real

Knicks fans would hold a parade if the team managed to acquire Embiid

Nope.

Dude will break down within 2 years and barely plays 60 games a year to begin with

That's even before you factor in how he's acted in this series and how he is the literal antithesis of what the Knicks have built here and what their team stands for.

Hard pass.

Hard to say, as it depends on what your criteria is for underachiever. Relative to potential? perceived status? accolades?
I think it's safe to say he is probably the most underachiever ever in playoffs relative to how good he is in Regular Season. Dude would probably have 3 MVP if not for historically great RS performances from Jokic let's not forget that, it's not like his competiton in RS was poor, he really played at a very high level in RS. But the dropoff is so high it's not even funny.

People say Shaq underachieved for only winning the number of rings he did. To be considered great, you are expected to win BIG.

Recently moved from Brooklyn to Boston for work. Will probably take a day or two of PTO. It's a short flight.
