we'll see what? what happens in the series won't change what happened during the season. the thunder were the better team. the thunder played like an elite team all year. doesn't mean they'd beat the mavs, but they would be favored.

You're ignoring the context that Mavs got 2 of the top contributors at the trade deadline

no, i understand the context. the thunder were a 8+ SRS team in games that shai and jalen williams played. maybe the mavs would have been as good as that with their current roster for an entire season, maybe not. seems unlikely to me.

i don't really care if you say the mavs would be favored anyway. my main beef is with folks not acknowledging how good the thunder are in their own right.

I'm not really trying to argue who would be favored, probably OKC. It's just the repeated pointed out that OKC was the better team when they were the same team in October than they were at the end of the season and the Mavs weren't doesn't really apply in my opinion. If the Mavs didn't make the trades at the deadline they made they were probably going to be a play in team at best, after the trade deadline they've had a W/L record better than anyone except Boston.

I believe that OKC easily winning series might not be beneficial for them. More competitive series against Zion led team might be better preparation.

I agree with this. I'm worried about the first two games against Dallas (or LAC) with much more competition.

Dallas momentum is great and they added key pieces at the deadline. To me it's pretty clear that Denver, OKC, Minny and Dallas are the best teams in the West by a good margin (even if Denver is in his own tier).

Sam Presti is head and shoulders above the rest of the GM's in the NBA. The fact that he hasn't even started to receive those picks from the Westbrook & George trades is scary. They probably don't need any of those picks.

Jalen Williams was the first Paul George pick (it's not going well for the Clippers)

I'm not sure I'd trade Jalen straight up for George. The fact that they got SGA as well is mind boggling.

The Clippers didn't respect the talent that they have had in the past. Not their fan, but the ownership, and former front offices. I'd like to think things have changed to some degree.

That's wild. If I was an OKC fan, I'd be thrilled with what they have going.

They still have unprotected picks in 2025, 2026, and 2027 coming up... Easily the best trade of all time.

what a dream scenario for OKC

home court advantage through the western conference

playing (a hobbled) NO first round

not facing Denver until the WCF (or the TWolves)

Dallas is as bad of a team you could hope to face in the second round in the west

Dallas still have Doncic.
But yes so far as good as it could potentially been.

To add to that, OKC got Paul George from the Pacers in exchange for Sabonis and Oladipo, whom they had previously acquired from the Magic in exchange for a past-his-prime Ibaka.

So ultimately, they turned a past-his-prime Ibaka into SGA, Jalen Williams, a bunch of first round picks yet to come. Crazy.

Hot take but Pelicans with Zion would've beat the OKC

Not that hot of a take there are a lot of haters in this thread.

I mean all you can do is blowout the team in front of you. Not OKC’s fault Zion isn’t playing.

Woulda coulda shoulda, Thunder in 5.

I'm just saying LeBron and AD together both couldn't stop Zion in the Play in game. Chet and Dort would get destroyed or seriously hurt trying to guard him
