Crazy everyone believes Gobert is a 2nd tier type of guy. If you put Gobert on the GSW teams, he'd easily win a title as well. Gobert's defense isn't respected enough, it's clearly top tier and catapulted the Wolves to a top record.

Suns got Beale cheaply IMO because 2nds could be bought.
Ayton Nurkic was addiction by subtraction.

Better depth play in level talent in Beale Booker Nurkic and depth is good retool.

I still think Gobert is overpay on that small ball made makes him less relevant

No they didn't get Beal cheaply. Those swaps are a killer for the suns since they are the worst of multiple picks.

I was against the KD trade since day 1. And was even far more against trading for Beal. I was 99% sure this scenario would end up exactly as it has. Sucks to be right.

Durant's trade was fair. KD won two rings as the world's TOP3 player playing with another TOP3 player at the time and two other all-stars. Now 35y old KD is not TOP5 player anymore and his best teammate is not TOP10 player while 3rd best Suns player was a former all-star who is not TOP30 player anymore, so the Suns underperformed this season on the stacked West but less than people complain.

Minnesota's success story is because of their historically dominant defense. One where the defense funnels into the guy who should be named DPOY and tie Ben and Mutombo. Put some respect on Gobert's name. 8-)

The KD trade was an overpay then and it still looks like it now. Given the circumstances of how the deal went down, who exactly was Phoenix bidding against? They gave up the same level of draft equity in the Gobert deal + borderline all-star in Mikal on a bargain contract. You brought up his top 3 status, but that was all the way back in 2019 when he was on the Golden State Warriors before his Achilles tear. They one the traded for was 34yo and had just been swept by the Celtics the post season prior.

Anybody with half a brain could notice the Beal trade was a very dumb move.

You can't win with a core of average defenders + shoot first guys + no depth. This isn't NBA2K.

It was a trade as dumb and bad as the Westbrook trade to LAL. You can see the dissaster about to happen from a million miles.

This is the problem with giving players too much power, they have this type of stupid ideas of pairing stars and thinking they are going to win just because they are talented. There is a reason GM's get paid millions to do their job.
