That's what people miss, usually there is no such big dropoff between RS and Playoffs, Embiid defies conventional rules, you need to apply disclaimers to rate him.

So that’s one third of his games played against bad/bottom feeding teams. Maxey could have eaten some of these teams without Embiid.

That's 13 out of 39 games. Embiid has a proven track record carrying the Sixers anyway.

Offensively, Maxey definitely has. He doesn't suffer from having his efficiency crater in the playoffs and has really stepped into the role we envisioned Harden having when he was traded from Brooklyn. 32pts and 7ast is the definition of elite and when you add in the context of him doing it on 62%TS (50/43/88) against a team coached by Thibs it makes it as unbelievable has his his performance yesterday to force a game 6.

Everything still runs through Embiid though and who knows where Philly would be without him, especially on the defensive end. His performance is inspiring and has the ingredients to become an important chapter of his career if they somehow win against New York and go on a run.

Joel won MVP and should've had another one over the Joker while Maxey won game 5 with big clutch baskets even though the MVP was on the court playing injured, taken the heat off of Maxey to dominate. Not hurt, but INJURED! So if and when Maxey wins an MVP over an entire season, which is not easy, especially since Maxey has struggled this season when Joel is out, then it would be a fair argument.

I am not fan of Embiid game, but you - guys need to relax and don't over react. Embiid is still Philly HUB on def and off

Maxey with Embiid 351pos 1.45ppp (points per poss) on .703TS with +11.7nrtg
Maxey w/o Embiid 73pos 0.75ppp (points per poss) on .333TS with -61.7nrtg

PHI with Embiid +12.4nrtg
PHI w/o Embiid -61.3nrtg

Maxey just takes what NY gives him after doubling/tripling Embiid and he is perfect at it. Its only 5 games stats, but these stats are staring eyes. PHI is completely lost without Embiid. He is playing injured with crazy impact on both ends.

This should be firmly put to bed after tonight. Maxey is similar to Murray. You need him, and he can win you playoff games when he goes off, but the consistency isn't always there. So, you end up with nights like tonight.
