That's the difference between Brunson and Maxey right now. We know that you can't win a championship with Maxey (a terrific second option) as your best player whereas with Brunson we aren't quite sure.

Maxey's earned a lot of respect and he could change this in the future, but I'm taking Jalen right now. He's already shown he can be the offensive engine of a successful team without an Allstar to play off of...and when he did have Randle to help share the load he was just killing it because Jalen is just as dangerous off the ball as he is on it.

But kudos to Maxey, this series was over without his heroics.

Maxey is the better shooter, better finisher, better defender and better athlete while being 4 years younger. Not to mention he’s probably out played Brunson so far this series.

Was arguing with some Knicks fans before the series and I stated that Maxey was every bit as good as Brunson and Knicks fans called me crazy.

But here we are and both players have played great this series and there clearly isn’t any possible way you could say either player has a massive advantage over the other.

Maxey: 32.4ppg 7.2a 5.2r on 50 43 88 splits PER 23.1

Brunson: 34.4ppg 8.4a 4.8r on 42 29 79 splits PER 21.6

Maxey has been way more efficient but Brunson has been able to get his team more wins this series. Brunson is putting up Iverson type playoff stats taking 30fga this series compared to Maxey who is taking 24fga.

I would take Maxey too but even I can admit Brunson is by far the better player this season and much more important to the Knicks success than ours with Maxey.

Without Joel, Maxey has been average as the top guy. Without Randy, Brunson is even better.

Not sure of the reasoning here. Embiid is the #1 option if he were on the Knicks.
It is more an indication of his teammates than Maxey/Brunson's play.

I like Quickley, but he's like a 75% Maxey. 75% of his talent, speed, etc.

75% of the speed maybe, but the talent is a lot closer. He'll never explode to the rim like Maxey can and Maxey's further ahead in their developmental arcs, but IQ's floater game & ability to get to the line does a lot to close that gap at the rim. Plus IQ is a much better defender/rebounder.
