76ers owner is buying 2000 tickets to prevent Knicks fans takeover in Game 6.

Post#1 » by DLoMor » Thu May 2, 2024 2:47 am

Apparently the owner does not want a lot of Knicks fans again so he is buying 2000 tickets to give to first aid guys and firefighters, will this prevent less Knicks fans? What do you guys think?

ofc it will reduce the number of Knicks fans
that's why it was so pitiful to hear Joe L complain about it, he should have been complaining to his own organization for trying to make an extra buck

More owners should do this for the playoffs.

To me he is the third best player in the NBA - Luka and Embiid are comfortably ahead of him.

Should have purchased 10,000. The fact that the tickets were available in the first place tells you everything.

Season ticket holders trying to make a profit. Hope those fans won’t have it renewed next season.

As far as I understand, NYK fans were getting tickets from resale market as most of the tickets were already sold to 76ers fans earlier (season tickets, playoff packages etc.). So what is the actual difference between 20.000 potential resale market sellers (76ers fans) and 18.000 of them? There would still be as many as NYK fans - with the difference of higher average ticket price (as a result of lower supply and the same or even higher demand in the resale market)

2000 tickets still cost more than what most here can ever save up.

Don’t kid yourself that the Sixers owners are nice guys

They’re the same billionaires who sacked long serving staff during the pandemic to save $ while one of them has been accused of some seriously amoral stuff in the insurance industry

There’s an angle to it

Those four guys are worth billions and are a majority of the ownership group. I would hope they could afford 2,000 tix.

If you can sell your playoff tickets to a team you no longer believe in and basically pay for your season tickets, why wouldn’t you? Also isn’t buying up these tickets and basically taking them off the market, going to created increased demand, driving up the resell market price even more and thus tempting even more Philly ticket holders to sell their seats?
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

There are not THAT many firefighters and first aid locals for 10000 tickets that other poster suggested and it doesn't include those from New York so they can take over the arena again!

20 Knicks fans is enough to chant "F*** Embiid" and takeover the Sixers arena.

Good.
Tired of people crapping on ordinary fans trying to make a buck.
If it bothers these billionaires and half-billionaires, this is exactly what they should do.

Who would have thought investment firms were not charities and were answerable to their shareholders? Funny that.

Yeah makes sense. From a League Pass watching perspective, those 76ers home games look/sound like they are on neutral grounds, with somewhat even fanbases. In that game 5 in NY, it was dead silent when Maxey shot his threes ("fours"?) to takeover the game.
No need for complex explanations, the owner wants to have more playoff series to make more money and have some fun in the process. I don't think anyone is actually expecting Embiid to go through 16 playoff wins for the rings.

I cannot wait until tomorrow.

Easily my favorite playoff series by FAR.

Close, dramatic games. Great players. And between two cities of insufferable degenerates who deserve whatever happens.

No matter who loses, I win.
