Honestly it's kind of weird/confusing that the Lakers hung a banner for the IST, making it seem like they value the IST, but then dump Ham. Firing him makes it seem like they don't actually value the banner they hung. It's right there mixed in with their postseason banners!

Wouldn’t surprise me if the nba pushed them to do it to make it seem like it has value

The lede is getting buried here. The players loved Phil Handy, and he was close with LeBron.

Not sure what this means. Do they know who they're hiring already and has he expressed a desire to put together to hire 100% of his staff? Or is it just a bad decision without much reasoning behind it.

Imagine working for the Lakers, an organization that leaks to the media that they are going to fire you, advertises it for all to see, and then waits a week to fire you. Just crap management skills.

Maybe the real issue is higher up the food chain.

Lue wasn't fired. Jeannie didn't want to pay him.

Just cause the team feels the coach is one of the problems and that it’s something they can try solve doesn’t mean the team thinks he’s the only problem.

The fact Pelinka is still around tells me the team is hella unserious about trying to solve the problem.

Yes, ownership changes can have huge effects on a franchise, even if it changed hands in the same family. See the Detroit Lions as an example.

It's a flawed roster construction. Most of his best shooters couldn't defend and his best defenders couldn't shoot.

Except Steve Kerr was never a great coach. He's been riding Steph's coattails this whole time.

Put Kerr on the Hornets or Pistons and see how he does.

Well, they have spent a good amount of time with the team, can't be that they are all just "baggage" with nothing useful to contribute

Someone had to take the fall, and it wasn't going to be LeBron, AD, or Ownership.

Ham was an average coach and the obvious target.

I didn't know that but it explains how the Lions got so far, which I was wondering about.
