Mavs have been better, but I don't think this is the right move. The dude can't coach, and the players play well in spite of him. Sad to see, if things go south it's just another reason for Luka to leave.

I think it gets overplayed with Kidd about him being bad, but not sure he’s so good you need to sign him up quickly either.

The only thing he did right is basically improving the defense with the right personel. Offense is still one dimensional without any real coaching ideas. It was carried in the past by Doncic and now he has help from Kyrie but that's about it. He's a very poor X and O's coach. I wouldn't extend him but whatever...

To be honest, if it was up to a fanbase, there would be only 2 or 3 legitimate coaches left in the NBA. Even Spurs fans were turning on Pop

I actually like him as a developmental coach for star players. He really gets on guys and pushes them hard, and a lot of the top guys appreciate being pushed.

His problems are that he wears people out on dealing with him, his ideas don't always make sense, and he's very stubborn about them. It's also important to note that the Bucks also gave Kidd a multi year extension in his third year. The difference being that they waited until after the playoffs, which they missed that year.

They did kinda improve (more through roster building, though) and he wasn't egregiously bad, so it's kinda whatever. If Luka and Kyrie are good with him, they probably figured it's not worth rustling what they have. Maybe bolster the personnel with some more proven and tactically/XO adept assistants.

I don't like this and the timing is weird but it is what it is. I still hate that Luka pushed out Rick Carlisle but what are you gonna do? I'd rather have a generational talent with an average coach than not have that talent on the roster at all. Kyrie likes Kidd too.

Damn doubled down on him. A little surprised especially this early.

To be honest my MAIN issue with kid is he like to let the team figure it out and play through runs. A LOT of times the runs put us in a position where we are clawing to come back. If he would call a timeout at the right time we literally wouldn’t be in those positions and it happens often.

One thing I can say is when he has the personnel he can definitely get top defense out of the players.

Offensively, he needs help from an assistant coach that can bring some versatility.

Didn't he already make close to $200M in salary as a player, not to talk of the endorsement money.
