The NBA did absolutely nothing to market these Wolves to a broader audience once the season started and things started to become very apparent. Their flawed TV deal meant they couldn't flex any games so the Wolves were only on national TV I think 3 or 4 times all year and two of those were the late game that nobody on the east coast was watching. Meanwhile the analysts spent their time all year talking about teams that either didn't make the playoffs in the west or are out in the first round. Really all most people had to go off was the word of T-Wolves fans and what do we know, we're T-Wolves fans.
I do feel bad for the greater NBA audience though. I've been watching basketball my whole and just from that perspective this team has been an absolute joy to watch all year long and most NBA fans missed out on it completely. Like seasons like this where it's just fun all year long and then ends up being even more fun in the playoffs are what fans beg for.
