Frank Isola (SXM Starting Lineup) mentioned this:
Every MVP since 2008/2009 season (Lebron) is still active in the league today, but all of them except Joker were eliminated before the start of the 2nd round.
With Denver going down 0-2 at home, I was curious so I looked it up:
If Joker loses to Minnesota, this will be the first time since the 2000 playoffs (Lakers over Pacers) that no former MVPs reached the Conference Finals. (Shaq was "about" to be crowned MVP, but reigning was lockout winner Karl Malone from 98/99 season)
Zero former MVPs possibly reach conference finals for 1st time in 25 seasons

I could understand Malone (Jazz) back in '99.
They were one of the favs to win the NBA that season. Older veteran group, but upset by younger up and coming Portland team in the 2nd round (SemiFinals) (lost 4-2).
Just coming off back to back NBA Finals runner up seasons ('97 and '98 against MJ/Bulls). He also won the award in '97.
Before that was 1979. Moses Malone. Rockets lost to the Hawks in 1st round (0-2).
And also Bill Walton (defending champs Portland) lost to Seattle SuperSonics in SemiConfernce Finals 1978 and
Bob McAdoo (Buffalo Braves (now LA Clippers)) Lost Conference SemiFinals to the Washington Bullets (Wizards) 4-3. 1975.
But you are right. Not often do MVP winners fail to reach conference finals and/or NBA Finals.
Interesting!

Yes, but future MVP Derrick White is still in play!
