Teleport the 2010 Lakers into today's league, how many do they win?

Post#1 » by One_and_Done » Wed May 8, 2024 5:38 am

If we teleported the 2010 Lakers into today's league, how would they fare?

I'm going to say maybe 40 wins and out in the play in. Too little 3pt shooting.

They would be a older slower version of the Nuggets
KB24/Gasol = Murray/Jokic

They would be good and be in the playoffs
Bronny will become Murray 2.0

On paper definitely not but that team was making 7 3's per game. The fewest this season was 11. So if they don't start throwing up 3's they would lose to worse teams.

Who cares ? Kobe would have open paint to dunk on their faces and Pau would kill them mid-range.
Metta World Peace would make cry this whole soft league.

Thats just sad that you guys think that 3's is the most important thing in basketball.

The game was much different in 2010, there's no reason to think they wouldn't be a solid 3p team, both Gasol and Bynum had the range.

They didn't have 3pt shooters though. Not by today's standards.

There's 0 reason to increase 3 point shooting attempts just because of what the other team does on a nightly bases. All they have to do is focus on making the defensive stop to get the ball back, then once the ball is in their hands. They can maintain 7 3's if they feel the need to and continue to utilize their bigs in the paint, slashing to the rim, and midrange shots as they did in 2010 inside of that triangle offense. No reason they can't still win with that formula.

That was a mediocre Lakers team that got pushed by a similarly mediocre Celtics team. Second round or WCF exit.

That finals was awesome. Casual fans or bandwagon fans that recently started watching would think it was boring. 7 game series and each team went over 100 one time. Ground & pound basketball
Fantasy Hoops/Football/Baseball fans..

For info on a forum that actually talks Fantasy sports and not spammed with soliciting leagues, PM me. The more the merrier !

Kobe/Pau pick and roll was unstoppable, no reason to think that wouldn’t work today. They’d be a contender, not sure if they can beat the Celtics though

That team that beat a team with Pierce, Allen, KG and Rondo? Yes, they would probably have some trouble at this present time because rules are different now. That team was very physical, if refs would not call ticky tack fouls and allow Metta, Bynum, Odom to play physical defense then they have a chance. Farmar and Sasha I guess would play and shoot more 3's and fans now probably forget how good Pau was in the post.

With todays game if they made no changes to playstyle? Lottery team.

You simply cant rock 2 guys (Gasol/Bynum) that shoot no threes. Furthermore, Gasol at the 4 is getting abused all day in the PnR by the current lineups teams thrwo out.

Add to that, Fisher/Kobe/MWP would be the worst shooting guard/wing combo in the entire NBA by a large margin.

Just the reality of how the game has changed. That lineup simply does not work today.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Bynum? Career 11% from 3 Bynum? Career 21% from long 2 Bynum?

What in the revisionist ****?
