If true can't really complain that he hasn't had great coaches.

Not only coaches but also teammates. There’s a reason why he’s called GM LeBron.

False. As with many Hall of Famers teams will ask him for his opinion and give him a veto but he can't hire his guy to coach the club.

they prolly hire people who would let Lebron have some or more leverage on team decisions moving forward through the seasons depending how the team plays

Option 3. Lebron's 40 years old. He's not that important anymore so what he does or doesn't do isn't a concern. .

Get good or I'ma trade you. LeBron legit has plenty of passive-aggressive tweets.

LeBron was the Chosen 1 the moment he entered the NBA.

Yes he's made his own calls. You don't be in the conversation for GOAT and not have any power especially in today's NBA which is a players league.

Not sure what point we are trying to make, but to answer your question yes LeBron picked a majority of his HC's and teammates.

I don't know, but I believe he definitely influenced the coach hiring decisions, as all, but maybe even more than other superstars, but no, I do not believe he handpicked most of his coaches. Thats a bit far reaching imo.

Lebron has his doubters for sure, but I dont think he slayed two coaches within months, Giannis style. Giannis gets a too much of the free pass, if you hate such a thing. Just my thoughts.

He didn't pick Vogel, but it was clear they brought in Kidd as an assistant to be the emergency replacement in case Lebron didn't like him.
Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

Don't know if he's picked his coaches.

But I certainly think he's been a big influencer when he decides he doesn't want a guy to coach him anymore.

Let’s go 1 by 1.

I think it only happened one time with Lue in 2016.

Paul Silas as a rookie - obviously no
Interim Brendan Malone - non starter
Mike Brown (05-10): no 20 year old is going to handpick a coach, especially bc Brown was only in his 30s and had no prior experience
Spo: no, although he did try to get Riley to coach which is a demerit against him, but no
David Blatt: no, hired before he was signed

So that’s five definite “no” to start the career

Ty Lue: this is the first one that you can actually point to. Lue was on the coaching staff and clearly connected to LeBron and the other guys better than Blatt. YES, we’ll count this one

Luke Walton: definitely not

Frank Vogel: Actually, no. LeBron pushed super hard for Lue, having previous experience with him, but Buss wouldn’t pay up and Lue went to the Clippers. So definitely a plan B, driven by the Lakers front office. Obviously he had coaching experience vs LBJ in the mid 2010s and LBJ would’ve had to give the OK, but definitely not “handpicked”

Darvin Ham: There is absolutely zero evidence that LeBron was clamoring for Milwaukee assistant Darvin Ham behind the scenes all of 2022. It actually seems like he really impressed the owners and Pelinka and then won LBJ over rather than the other way around.

So really, only once. Just once. He did push for coaches to get fired (Blatt, Spo, Walton), but that’s different than hand picking coaches.

He may not have handpicked the majority of his coaches but their continued employment relies on his approval.

In addition to the ones he pushed to get fired he also at the very least indirectly influenced the firing of Brown, Vogel and Ham

The one thing LeBron has said is that he'd prefer to play for a black coach, so that may have partially influenced some of the decisions. But for instance in the case of Mike Brown and Ty Lue the most important thing is the GM wanted those guys. Danny Ferry and Mike Brown were tight from their time with the Spurs, and Ty Lue was David Griffin's choice for head coach but when he was over-ruled he was allowed to overpay Lue to make him their top assistant and successor for Blatt.

Silas - Was already there when he joined
Brown - Highly doubt LeBron would pick him as a coach at his age
Spo - Was already there
Blatt - Was already there
Lue - Most likely
Walton - Lol what?
Vogel - Highly doubt it
Ham - Maybe?
