Difference is the numbers with Embiid weren't hypothetical, he was actually producing better than Jokic. Injury being the only factor.

Yes, so being available and consistently putting up the numbers is key?

Availability.

Tatum has been available his entire career and this playoffs is playing like an elite role player. Dude was has been ass these playoffs. So much for availability.

Not sure why you are bringing up Tatum in this? It’s a regular season award where you have to play 65+ games, which Embiid didn’t.

I guess it’s hard getting bounced in the first round while Tatum and the Celtics are dominating.

But, maybe next year Embiid can be healthy and win the MVP hey?

Just play over 65 games? Not that hard.

Your availability theory is bs. Players can be avialable and still not reach those heights.

Ant, Tatum, Brunson?????????

yeah… the guy who had his team finish number 2 in the east without a legit second option for much of the year

Good for him, doesn't mean he was robbed by Jokic lmao.

For a guy whose job is to literally articulate things, Shaq doesn't articulate very well.

It’s not “theory” when the NBA has set the 65 games minimum for awards.

Take it up with the NBA and Embiid.

Just accept it and move on champ.

Did anyone, like anyone ever, say Donovan Mitchell or Rudy Gobert were robbed of the MVP when the Jazz finished with the #1 seed in 2021? Anyone?

Also 2 in the East is good for 5th in the West.

I mean they weren’t doing what Shai did this year. Mitchell was 57 percent TS to Shai’s 64 percent with Shai scoring 4 more ppg and also being an elite defender instead of below average.

I don’t think Shai should’ve gotten it but it was closer than an argument for Mitchell or Rudy in 21.

Plus, it's not like OKC won the West by 10 games. They had the same record as DEN. It's a really weak argument.

Totally agreed, Shai is much closer to Jokic this year than Mitchell was that year. Still though, nobody cared about record then at all. Not sure why it matters now, especially when their record was tied.

Heck, nobody was thinking the Jazz players or coaches should have got any awards that year, despite being the #1 team in the RS.

Yeah the same record especially makes that argument hilariously disingenuous.

SGA got robbed.

Carried a young OKC team to the 1 seed in the brutal western conference and is elite on offense and defense.

Agree or disagree?

The MVP should be named after the playoffs. It gives us the real value of the best player in a season. If this lasted throughout the playoffs then SGA or Ant are probably the MVP. Your playoff success should also factor in for your MVP votes because those are the most important games imo.

Shaq will also talk about how westbrook is an MVP despite only winning like 44 games that year. Hypocrispy at its finest

Ant was a fringe All-NBA level player in the regular season. No chance he gets it if you weigh the regular season at all. Jokic has probably been better than SGA+Luka these playoffs. Giannis didn't play. Embiid was great round 1, but he missed too many regular season games.
