Tom Thibodeau running players into the ground

Post#1 » by Shock Defeat » Thu May 9, 2024 2:32 am

Knicks are decimated by injuries and it's not a coincidence. Tom Thibodeau is known for running his players to the ground.

Randle
Bogdanovic
Robinson
OG
Brunson

All of these guys did not or won't last a whole playoff run lmao. Who is going to be standing left? I don't think this is sustainable. After this season, all of the Knicks players are going to be worn down. Look at how quickly Luol Deng became a corpse, Kirk Hinrich, Derrick Rose etc. Literally all of these guys fell off in an instant. I can see the same thing happening to the Knicks players.

It’s not like they have the type of talent that would make an even deeper playoff run if he played them less. He’s maximizing their potential.

Such lazy take. No effort to do research into their MPG or apply any context. This take is bad and you should feel bad #zoidberg

Counter point: Knicks wouldn’t be where they are if their core wasn’t playing heavy minutes. They’re young, let them run.

Don't matter Brunson the best player in the East. And he got some DAWGS who all in. Next man up no excuses.

Outside of OG, none of these guys were injured because of the increased minutes.

You coach to win now, not worry down the road.

So he shouldn't play them heavy minutes and lose? Is that what you are suggesting?

Josh Hart is something man. I swear he plays better the more minutes you give him.

He's listed as a 6'4 SG that will play 48 minutes and give you 15 rebounds no problem.

I think people overrate how hard it is to play 48 mins with tons of TOs and stoppage of play. A lot of people play basketball for hours nonstop just for fun.

OG has always been made of glass, nothing Tibbs has done wrong. Really, how much difference can it make playing a few more minutes a games. It's highly overrated.

Except bojan, Mitch, and randle weren't playing crazy minutes. And OG didn't even play close to a full season with the Knicks.

Randle's shoulder was smashed up by Bam Adebayo (not Thibs fault)

Mitchell Robinson has always had injury issues, some could argue his season ending injury was caused by Embiid (again not Thibs fault)

Brunson is a top.5 NB MVP player this season and well on his way to being one of the best Knicks ever
OG kept the Knicks in the game at half time when the Pacers threatened to blast them asunder after Brunson went down.

Two wins away from the East Finals with 2-3 starting players missing most of the playoffs is a damn good coaching effort all things being equal.

Knicks haven got enough legs or talent to win.a chip this season, but they sure as **** building a culture and excitement factor to make stars/big names want to play, esp in front of the world famous MSG crowd.

Knicks have been far too down in Medicore/treadmill land for the good part of this 21st century, and Thibs has played a major/significant part in making them a NBA powerhouse again

Yes he is not perfect, and can be stubborn as a mule.
But the players at the Knicks clearly love/buy into his coaching and message.

Randle's injury was a freak injury. Mitchell Robinson was injured on a dirty play.
