How much do you pay an injury prone player like OG?

Post#1 » by ScrantonBulls » Thu May 9, 2024 3:01 am

No doubt an extremely talented player. However, guaranteed too miss around 20-30 games a season, with the chance to be injured during the playoffs. Look at what has happened with Kawhi. He's getting injured every time by the postseason and the Clippers have no shot.

Do the Knicks basically have to give him near max and hope he stays healthy? He's eligible for 42m in the first year of his contract. Will teams keep giving big money to injury prone players like this.

You gotta pay to play. Someone will pay him he's a top defender in the league and they don't grow on trees

I think the way for the Knicks to avoid the absolute max is to give the full 5 years. Like 5 years 200 million. So 40 million per flat with no increases. In today’s nba missing 20 games is being reliable
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Should be 33-34 a year. Love him but have to be able to keep the other guys (ie Hartenstein) too.

Up to 40M a year if that's what he wants.

We can afford a 40M AAV deal + IH's early-bird max + a fair offer to Achiuwa + our picks this summer. Next summer we're a 2nd apron team no matter what.

Whatever he's looking for. As long as one team is willing to give you a max, your worth a max and there will be definitely be teams throwing a max at OG.

OG turned down 4/118 from the Raptors because he wanted more in the offseason when he was eligible for it. This was before he became a Rockstar in New York. OG is getting 37.5M to 40M per year imo.

You’re also paying that to him in his prime. He’s easily worth $200m

Jerami Grant got 5/160. 5/200 for OG seems pretty easy to fathom.

Knicks gave up a lot of quality assets for him, so they really have not much choice but to resign him, but hopefully try convince him to sign on for less than what he wants, so they can help bolster their roster with that missing 3rd all-star level piece to win a championship.

I am sure he would get looked after for life from various billionaire Knicks fans if he helped the Knicks win a chip.

Regardless, i sincerely hope his latest injury is only a minor one, he was astonishingly good vs the Pacers in Game 2 before he went down.

I'm sure they had a deal worked out when the trade was made.
