Can someone explain why Brunson is so good?

Post#1 » by Ugly Duckling » Thu May 9, 2024 3:56 am

He doesn't look that good. I mean he's short, stocky, not particularly fast. Clearly a good shooter but his stroke doesn't look that pure. Handles look decent. Why does he not pass the eye test, but is playing like one of the best PG's in the game?

Big head syndrome :) & also playing two crappy teams so far in the playoffs. Next series will change his whole status.

If he can dominate and beat the Celtics
His fandom will go crazy
Bronny will become Murray 2.0

I am not sure why the stocky part is sandwiched between short and not particularly fast. Stocky is a benefit. Stocky is part of why Brunson is so good. Stocky is strength.

Strength and touch is what Brunson utilizes to unlock his inside the arc scoring. You are not knocking him off balance when he drives, he doesn't care about a hand in his face, he'll get to his spots and score. In a way, it's a bit similar to how Luka does it.

He throws the ball at the net and it goes in, that’s why he’s so good,

A true Alpha and leader.

Obviously not as great as two legends in Larry Bird and Michael Jordan, but I honestly feel like he has the same mindset and leader's willingness to make his teammates better and rise above themselves, as well as playing though the pain barrier.

Definitely should be an All NBA First team selection this season..

He just wants to win at all costs, despite the physical toll it takes on his body.

Very impressive young man and consumate professional player.

Short range of motion leads to a consistent shot, low to the ground promotes great handles.

He's got some of the best footwork I've seen from a guard in a long time.
Not a Stan account…yet.

Lion blood.

Fug around and find out. It's best if you watch from afar. Jump in that cage then you going to unleash the beast of the East!

Footwork, touch, intelligence, strength, repetition, being a lefty, and of course his bighead.

A circus owner runs an advert for a lion tamer wanted and two people show up.

One is a drop-dead, gorgeous brunette with a killer body in her mid-20s. The other is Jalen Brunson.

The circus owner tells them, “I’m not going to sugar coat it. This is one ferocious lion. He ate my last tamer so you two had better be good or you’re history”.

“Here’s your equipment: a chair, a whip and a gun. Who wants to try out first?”

The gorgeous brunette says, “I’ll go first”.

She walks past the chair, the whip and the gun and steps right into the lion’s cage.

The lion starts to snarl and pant and begins to charge her. As he gets close, the gorgeous brunette throws open her coat revealing her beautiful, perfect naked body.

The lion stops dead in his tracks, sheepishly crawls up to her and starts licking her feet and ankles. He continues to lick and kiss her body for several minutes, then lays down and rests his head at her feet.

The circus owner’s jaw is on the floor! He says, “That’s amazing! I’ve never seen anything like that in my life!”

He then turns to Jalen Brunson and asks, “Can you top that? Do you have the courage?”

The tough, short All-Star replies, “Possibly… but you’ve got to get that lion out of there first!"

The main thing I think people overlook is that he is a very high IQ player. Generally you see him make smart decisions and repeat what is working over and over. He's also an excellent shooter and plays decent defense -- these are the 3 basic qualities you want in a star point guard.

He might not make insane Jokic passes, but he sets the team up for success over and over.

I mean he's a borderline top 10 type guy, but in the West the Knicks would be a 1st round out and nobody would care that much about him. Heck, he's only going to get out of the 2nd round thanks to injuries. Bucks and Sixers (and the Heat) would have smoked the Knicks if they were healthy.
