What happened to Chet Holmgren?

This dude was supposed to be the next big thing. Earlier in the season there was legit debate if he might be better than Wemby. Of course that ended when Wemby took off mid season, but still Chet was viewed as a guy who would challenge Wemby for the next great big.

He has looked pretty mid for the past 2 months. Did he hit a rookie wall or something?

It might be a strength issue. Those legs probably couldn't hold up for a full season + the playoffs. Hopefully the young guy gets stronger.

Am I the only one who noticed the dropoff with Chet's play?

They need a big and have him play PF. He really isn’t a center.

Yup, exactly. A center like Gafford, would have been a perfect fit next to Chet.

I don’t really think it’s some kind of physical issue because he was awesome defensively the second half of the year. But he did shoot under 30% from 3 the last 2 months of the season… That probably accounts for his drop in point production.

It’s not one bit surprising that he may well fade as the playoffs go on.

He’s miles off being at the peak of his powers.

Utilizing him properly? You would rather have so one next to him, PF or C that can take the banging and have him as the roamer help defense shot blocker. That is also ideal for Wemby too. Wemby is better, he just has more of it but Chet is t Shaun Bradley.

He’s having an amazing rookie season. If Wemby didn’t exist he’d be getting hyped to the moon.

It’s just that Wemby is a once in a generation player with legit GOAT potential. Holmgren is not. He’s doing really really well for a rookie.

Chet's a great young player. He's gonna keep getting better. Nothing here to complain about.

Im not doubting that.

I'm just wondering why he has been in a funk for the past few months. Wemby never seem to hit the rookie wall.

Played more games and minutes than any other first year player this year. He’s a top 5 center in his first year playing. Leads the playoffs in blocks per game.

Chet doesn’t have the ability to create like Wemby.

Chet at power forward won’t get the same quality of shots and he is actually not that good at creating off the bounce. With the quality of opportunities he gets, it should be very easy.

The big value proposition with Chet (on offense) is you get his skill set at the Center position. If you have to bring in a center to play alongside him, then it negates of his value as an offensive player. OKC gets easier to guard, spacing is worse etc
