Kobe Bryant, Kawhi Leonard, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Anthony Edwards

These are the names I see compared to Michael Jordan with the most frequency.

Who resembles Jordan the most?

None of them are even remotely close to the same caliber of player.

Kobe was always a poor man's Jordan. Very similar but worse in practically every department.

Overall, it was Kobe.

The fadeway. The hops. The scoring. The charisma. The name. The fans. The longevity. The chips. Icon. Others possessed similar attributes to Mike but none more than Kobe.

The only player who I think can actually be feasibly compared to His Airness is Jordan’s original idol, David Thompson. My old HS coach (in his 80s now) who saw them both swears that Thompson was more gifted than Jordan. It’s eerie how similar their moves are if you watch them side by side.

Probably Kobe and even then I don’t think they were ultra similar

I doubt anyone gets closer than Kobe. He literally modeled his game after MJ. He was slightly smaller, less athletic, shorter wingspan and had smaller hands but he couldn't help those things. His style of play, mannerisms, and overall game was almost a carbon copy. It just goes to show you how incredible MJ was that Kobe was still at best a cheap facsimile of him.

If you didn't watch him live before his first retirement you just can't know how amazing he was. After Bird got injured, Dr. J retired and Magic aged there was a massive gap between MJ and the next best players. Similar to Wilt in the 60s.

Kobe by far. The midrange and footwork was a lot like Jordan except slower

Kobe is most similar to later years Jordan, but I always thought Dwyane Wade was most similar to early years Jordan.

Shai doesn't have the explosion or lift.
Edwards is a couple inches too short
Kawhi is actually pretty close stylistically, but never healthy and still lacks the extra gear athletically

Neither was quite right.

Kobe was like a light version of the second three-peat version of MJ, I think. Never had first-run MJ's quickness or ups, though obviously the bogged-down era in which he played during his youth limited some of what we could see of that. And of course he liked to fire a little too much from three, and was more concerned with showing breadth of ability than getting to his spots and going for a couple of well-developed pet moves, which was more of Jordan's MO.

Wade was a relentless, basket-attacking monster, but he never had Jordan's lift or jumper, so he also wasn't quite the same. But he was closer in quickness, and had more power than a younger MJ, which was interesting. Like Kobe, Wade was amazing in his own right, but not quite Jordan.

Yeah true, although all these guys are individuals in their own right, so we'll never get a perfect copy of Jordan. Kobe all but tried to mirror Jordan and still wound up carving his own niche.
