The best guard in PO so far

Post#1 » by SpreeS » Wed May 15, 2024 6:05 am

Is quite interesting "battle" between top guards in these PO. Who is the best guard between these 3? With arguments please. (Doncic doesn't look good at the moment).

Gilgeous-Alexander
Doncic
Brunson
Edwards
Aaron Gordon, Devin Booker, Tyrese Halliburton, Trae Young, Anthony Edwards and Luka Doncic all made the Conference Finals.

Where’s Joel Embiid?

Brunson has been the best guard in the POs so far. What he's doing right now is the definition of carrying a team on your back.

It's between Shai and Ant for me. Ant is just unlucky for facing the defending champs in the 2nd round.

Brunson's been excellent, but he's playing against easier competition than the Western guards.

Pretty stupid to not put Luka in there

Brunson
Ant
Shai

Very close but Shai had a relatively weak first series

Brunson and its not even close, esp given the lack of quality teammates/support he currently has due to injury.

Derrick White won't be in the discussion, but he has provided so many clutch/pivotal moments for the Celts in these playoffs.

Maybe I am wrong, but Doncic is way worse than his standart level and Shai is cooking him at the moment. So what is point to put him in this conversation?

Between SGA and Brunson because they've been more consistent than Ant.

He also has the least help and the highest usage. Brunson all day.

If you think Brunson has the least help, you haven't been watching the Knicks play this postseason. Even when he has had poor games, his teammates are doing the little things to keep them in ball games.

Brunson is taking a ton of shots and making them, but it is a fact that he is doing it against inferior competition thus far.

Can`t agree on that, offensive load = help scoring the basketball, creating - its obvious he has the least help in that department. Much tougher to play when you are the obvious main scorer and playmaker with limited scoring options besides you and the defense shifting their attention to you + him being a shorter player. Almost 37 % usage and offensive BPM of 5.2 - next starter/relevant minutes player has 0.7.

76ers are better than those Pelicans and Suns teams as well, so I don`t understand that conclusion either. Pacers are not a **** team either.

Pacers are a bottom 3 defensive team in the league. You think what Brunson is doing against them (and the Sixers in round 1) is more impressive than Ant avg 30+ against the Suns and the defending champs? Agree to disagree.

So you think a hobbled Embiid and Maxey is tougher than KD and Booker? Okay cool. I'm not doing this with you all. You even quoted where I said Brunson has been excellent, but I'm not gonna exclude his poor games and only look at his great ones against worst comp.

Don't try to turn this Pacers' team into world beaters either.

Factor the level of defense and competition and it's SGA for me, but it's very close.
SGA just willed his team into a road win, against elite defense, just by taking over and making impossible shots.
Brunson is #2, but he's doing his damage against the worst defense in all of the teams that made the PO in the 2nd round, and PHI wasn't that great of a defense...
Best 2 performances by guards IMO:
SGA game 4 @ DAL
Brunson game 4 @ PHI

Yet Minny fans still think Ant is the best player in the PO, so I'm confused.

Indiana is better than Philly. As expected, they’ve been a much tougher test for us.
