Michael Malone
I know Jokic gets a lot credit and well deserved same as AG, Murray but Malone is out coaching everyone this playoffs. His defensive adjustments are on point. The best coach when it comes to calling timeouts. The best players’ coach in the nba. Underrated. I think when we look back on his career he will end up being top 10 all time. Maybe even top 5 coach of all time.

Re: Michael Malone
After the first two games, he definitely deserves serious credit for orchestrating 3 straight blow out wins against a team everyone thought had you beaten.
There should be more threads praising coaches when they do well. There are so many fans that just attack and blame coaches with no credit given when they are successful. It can't work both ways. You can't hate Bud when you lose to Miami, but then give him no credit when you win the championship.

And people have the nerve to say that Ty Lue is a better coach than him.

To think that at one point before the title run he was rumored to be on the hot seat.

I don't know enough about all that goes into NBA coaching to rank coaches. But Michael Malone does seem to me to be one of the better ones.

I wonder where Thibs ranks on that list. Thibs is know for effectively using his timeouts.

I like how Thibbs shows you can still be a great coach in the NBA without being a "player's coach." 46% of players said they don't like playing for him, but yet he wins wherever he goes.

So he's getting paid $10M a year to call TO's? What defensive adjustments has he done? He gets 0 credit. He has Jokic. If he was coaching a different random team he would be out of the league by now

He’s gotten guys to buy in and play hard for him which is I think all you can really ask for a coach at this level

He also made offensive adjustments to wolves gameplan .. playing murray offball more with having Gordon as wing ballhandler or a screener which also rudy to be involved early in the action and away from his comfort zone as a roamer
Gordon finally hitting his open 3 and jokic being more agressive have also been huge to render gobert impact less effective

I think Malone is a good coach. But facing a team with no point guard seems like a good way to adjust your defense...

Well let’s see, just in this series he has:
Had AG, KCP, and Jokić bring the ball up more which has effectively killed Minnesotas trap/pressure defense and opened up the Nuggets offense. An adjustment for which Minnesota so far has had no answer.
Changed up his rotations to essentially bench PWat in favor of Holiday to help with spacing on offense and prevent Minnesota from sending doubles as often, or at least without paying for it.
In game 5 he started sending doubles over to Ant to try and take the ball out of his hands and make someone else beat them. Yes I know this was more effective because Conley was out, but it was effective all the same.
Sure it helps having Jokic, but I don’t think Malone gets enough credit for building an offense around him earlier in his career to help maximize his strengths. Easy to say now, but I don’t know if allot of coaches recognize that and change their entire system based on an unproven young second round pick.

I remember during Noah's DPOY speech, he cited a story where Thibs kept having him run these drills....
Noah: if we weren't winning games, i would really hate you
Thibs: I feel the same way Jo

No REalGM but some Young RealGM posters here who think they themselves can coach any team with AllStars to win many championships.
Same ones who think anyone can win rings with Steph, Lebron, Giannis etc.

I don't know about RealGM, but I know a lot of Nuggets fans not on this forum have wanted him fired for the past decade.
