Kobe beat 26 50 win teams in the playoffs...(Is that the record?)

Post#1 » by Handlez » Mon May 20, 2024 2:57 am

https://fadeawayworld.net/10-nba-stars-who-have-beaten-the-most-50-win-teams-in-playoffs-history

From 08-10 alone, the Kobe led Lakers faced a 50+ win team in EVERY series other than the 48 win Jazz team in 09.

2008: 50-32 Nuggets, 54-28 Jazz, 56-26 Spurs, 66-16 Celtics

2009: 48-34 Jazz, 53-29 Rockets, 54-28 Nuggets, 59-23 Magic

2010: 50-32 Thunder, 53-29 Jazz, 54-28 Suns, 50-32 Celtics

INCREDIBLE.

He was the living, breathing spirit of competition...maybe even more so than Jordan.

I hate the idea of X player beat X team.

They didn't do it by themselves.

And what's the difference between a 47-49 win team and a 50 win team?

I'm talking about as being the leader or at least a 1B level player.

Kobe faced a mountain of competition back then.

Didn't even get first round gimme teams.

Not to mention Kobe's shooting percentages in the playoffs...it's not like he was going above and beyond like Kawhi.

Don't be elementary.

Kobe fought and played like a DAWG, regardless of box scores.

Just like Luka's been doing with his percentages lower than normal.

Winning basketball on both ends.

But also always with more "higher end" talent whether it was with Shaq or Gasol/Bynum/Odom.

Keep in mind he almost missed the playoffs with Gasol/Howard/Nash...

Nash was done. Dwight was soft and not himself.

Be realistic about that team.

And I'll never understand Bynum being called higher end talent lol. I mean come on.

And Odom never even made an all-star team.

I counted only 10 ahown above. Anything before 2008 is basically irrelevant considering Shaq was first option

How many did Lebron beat? (Seriously, don't know).

In any case, Lebron's Cavs beating a 70+ win team is probably the most impressive.

Lebron and MJ are tied at 4th with 20 each. Duncan has 23 and Pippen has 22.

he had great teams.

The stat nerds don’t like those kinds of numbers. Kobe willed and lead his teams to wins but all you’re gonna hear from them is “..but was it efficient”.

No, he said (quoting): "Kobe beat 26 50 win teams in the playoffs", and he's wrong.
