huh?

I wanted to address him and point out that he's not a franchise player, so that he doesn't qualify to be among the worst. I wanted to remind people that he once WAS a quality franchise player, though, and to note that he's playing pretty well this year, at least ITO all-around ball.

I hope that's not your actual ranking of them, because if it was, that's just terrible.

It's not. I was just numbering them off as they came to mind. and I was looking at yahoo rankings all the while.

People fail to realize that not every team has a *franchise player*.
Sacramento doesn't have one between Artest and Bibby. I would build no team around either.
Portland currently does not have a franchise player. Brandon Roy is their best player and a potential all-star, but once Oden is healthy he will be the centerpiece.
Philadelphia is a complete mess and I expect Andre I-'mnotafranchiseplayer-guodala to be shipped out within the year.
The Knicks don't have one. Period. They have a lot of talent, though.
I too sometimes question whether Michael Redd is a franchise player. I want to say he'd be better-suited as a complementary piece, but you could say that about almost any first option.
Clippers don't have a healthy franchise player.
I almost want to quit on Jermaine O'Neal, but not yet. If injuries are an excuse for Tracy McGrady, they can be for JO.
Bulls/Bobcats don't have one. Bulls should just start Ben Gordon already and develop TyrusThomas/Joakim Noah now. Bobcats need to learn how to use Emeka Okafor, because he SHOULD be a franchise player.
I personally believe that Josh Smith>Joe Johnson, but currently JJ is the guy.

I agree with Tsh, and he's essay.

But I also agree with teh poster who just used wins, can't ever really disagree with that logic.

I don't think AL,Iggy,Joe Johnson will ever devlop into a great franchise player, a top 5/10sih player where they dominate on both ends of the floor. But I think it bears the need to say that they all are going to be, or are great players right now.

And I really think Gasol is underated.

For what it's worth, Hollinger's highest rated player on each team:

1 LeBron James, CLE
2 Chris Paul, NOR
3 Amare Stoudemire, PHO
4 Kevin Garnett, BOS
5 Manu Ginobili, SAS
6 Dwight Howard, ORL
7 Kobe Bryant, LAL
8 Chauncey Billups, DET
9 Chris Bosh, TOR 36
11 Carlos Boozer, UTH
12 Dirk Nowitzki, DAL
13 Yao Ming, HOU
16 Kevin Martin, SAC
17 Al Jefferson, MIN
18 Dwyane Wade, MIA
20 Caron Butler, WAS
21 Baron Davis, GSW
22 Allen Iverson, DEN
25 Pau Gasol, MEM
28 Josh Smith, ATL
29 Brandon Roy, POR
31 Michael Redd, MIL
39 Gerald Wallace, CHA
42 Corey Maggette, LAC
45 Vince Carter, NJN
47 Andre Iguodala, PHI
54 Luol Deng, CHI
70 Mike Dunleavy, IND
71 Zach Randolph, NYK
79 Chris Wilcox, SEA

It's not worth much. Many of these players aren't the Most Valuable on their respective teams.
1 LeBron James, CLE
2 Chris Paul, NOR
3 Amare Stoudemire, PHO Steve Nash/Shawn Marion.
4 Kevin Garnett, BOS Could argue for Paul Pierce.
5 Manu Ginobili, SAS IMO, Tony Parker>Tim Duncan>Manu this season.
6 Dwight Howard, ORL
7 Kobe Bryant, LAL
8 Chauncey Billups, DET Could argue for Rip Hamilton, our leading scorer for every season he's been with the team.
9 Chris Bosh, TOR 36
11 Carlos Boozer, UTH Deron Williams, anyone?
12 Dirk Nowitzki, DAL Josh Howard makes this distinction less clear-cut every season.
13 Yao Ming, HOU Healthy Tracy McGrady?
16 Kevin Martin, SAC I'd rather have Ron Artest.
17 Al Jefferson, MIN
18 Dwyane Wade, MIA
20 Caron Butler, WAS Gilbert Arenas! and technically, Antawn Jamison has better stats.
21 Baron Davis, GSW
22 Allen Iverson, DEN Carmelo who?
25 Pau Gasol, MEM
28 Josh Smith, ATL I agree, but Joe Johnson presently and Al Horford in the future will push for this title.
29 Brandon Roy, POR Will be a secondary player once Oden is well.
31 Michael Redd, MIL
39 Gerald Wallace, CHA Emeka Okafor, believe it or not, has an even higher ceiling,
42 Corey Maggette, LAC HELL NO. Chris Kaman.
45 Vince Carter, NJN Funny, because everybody will tell you that Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson are both more worthy of an all-star appearance.
47 Andre Iguodala, PHI Awful team.
54 Luol Deng, CHI
70 Mike Dunleavy, IND This season, but only statistically. Jermaine O'Neal is still more important, especially as a trading piece.
71 Zach Randolph, NYK I'd say Jamal Crawford, to tell you the truth.
79 Chris Wilcox, SEA Anybody trying to tell you that Kevin Durant isn't a franchise player, especially for the Sonics, is loco.

Why?

He's leading the team in scoring by a small margin over Danny Granger, matching Granger's rebounding in about the same time on the floor, outpassing him... Dunleavy's contributing pretty well.

People would like to say JO but he's playing 6th man minutes and posting 15 and 7.
