Is Chris Paul the MVP?

Post#1 » by The Big Dog » Tue Jan 29, 2008 4:23 pm

The Hornets have the best record in the West and Chris Paul probably has the best numbers in the league.

20.6 ppg
10.7 apg
4.0 rpg
2.6 spg
.480 FG%
.350 3P%
.888 FT%

His supporting cast is definitely good but not as good as the Suns in my opinion.

If not Chris Paul, then who?

Paul doesn't have the height, weight, or irritability of Antawn Jamison. Jamison has to get the vote.

His numbers don't do him justice, watch a New Orleans game and he is no doubt the MVP.

LeBron's 31/7/7 year was one of the best in the last 20 years... yet he didnt win MVP.

LeBron will win it when the Cavs are regarded as top 4 teams in the whole league. as MVP usually come from the top 3-4 teams in the league.

Paul looks good.

I'd go with Paul at this point.

Yes... because if Nash won it over Shaq 3 years ago. He should win it against Garnett also.

As of today... YES but not when NO comes back down to earth and finishes between 5-7. Lets not get carried away here... I love Paul and think he's the best PG in the NBA right now but NO will not continue playing like this. In the end... I think it's gonna be given to LBJ or maybe KG.

Right now he is, you can add great defense to his stats also.

Without a doubt. You gave it to Nash a couple years ago...you gotta give it to Paul this year. Same type of scenario except Paul plays defense (leads the L in steals).

Chris Paul is the MVP...and point guard is probably the number 1 building block now instead of great post player.

Right now, yes, assuming they can somewhat continue at this pace, win the SW and get a high seed, yes.

At some point you're going to want to catch a couple of games and you'll realize that simply assuming that "the Hornets will come down to earth" is a pretty hollow statement. They aren't winning by fluke games, they're beating the crap out of their opponents by out-hustling, out-working, and out-defending. They're making the extra pass, doing "all the little things," bottom-line is they're a selfless team with a great young leader who leads by example....this isn't about a team "catching lightning in a bottle" a la Golden State last year...this is a healthy team that has really begun mesh with each other and the results speak for themselves.

But you can go ahead and assume that they'll lose 20 of 25 somewhere down the line, because, uh, they did a couple years ago, and even though that has absolutely NO bearing on right now, it can be hard to take a step back and take a more objective look, I know.

Yes. If Hornets can win 52+ games, it's his.

Also considering that Paul doesn't have another all star on his team right now whereas Nash had Marion and Amare. That's just if you're just comparing Nash and Paul.

I'd take CP3 over any pointguard in the NBA right now, this is how special he is. If he keeps this pace up, he'll end up MVP and it'll blow the Deron vs CP3 discussions out of the water.

Him crossing up Anthony Carter was just filthy. It's scary how good CP3 is right now at such a young age.
