It is kinda like us saying that Wilt Chamberlain is any less of a player because he committed adultery and what not. That is not the point. The point is that his reputation and integrity as a social human being is marked with an asterix because of his silly actions.

Tell me, do you think any less of Dwight Howard because he also knocked up one of the cheerleaders while he has his own family? It is more often than we like it to be, but again, legacy on court can't be taken away.

As a said, karma paid off, and no championships for the dirty mailman. He is lucky Chris Hansen wasn't alive back then.

Another amazing Wilt Chamberlain feet: commiting adultery while never being married! This one is even harder to believe than the 100 point game!

In all seriousness, everyone knows that Karl Malone is a Rush Limbaugh class d-bag.

Don't be suprised if this turns out being untrue.... There have been 5-6 articles about this and about Bell and NONE of them have stated that she was underaged. This isn't even a news article.... it is just commentary.

I just vehemently disagree here. She had either just turned 13 a few months ago, or was 12. 12. She may not look 12, but she doesn't look 20. I've never mistaken a 12 year old for 20. Not only that, but at that age, you can tell just by SPEAKING with someone that they're below 15. I don't think there's any doubt at such an age that Malone knew what was going on and didnt care.

Well, I would say it would be quite rare, but I personally have seen 13-14year olds that looked about 20years old, and vice-versa (20year olds looking like they are 13).
Personally speaking, I was getting into bars/clubs at 14years old... maybe I didn't look 21+, but surley I was mistakable.

I could be wrong though... I dont know. Just saying, we don't know the exact circumstances, although, we can all agree better judgement could have been made, and Malones actions after the fact are despicable.

Malone's past certainly isn't his highpoint, though anyone who thinks what he did then defines who he is now is simply grasping at straws.

If nobody remembers he does have two other kids that he took under his wing who he fathered before he got married and now he has a great relationship with them.

Remember a lot of Malone's past has been rectified by his actions since then. If you remember when he was being drafted the concern about him was his work ethic... The irony in that is overwhelming.

He was also a terrible student in highschool so he busted his ass to pass in college so he could play basketball and provide for his family which he did.

He also lived a life that I don't think any of us could understand. He is one of I believe 8+ children in his family, his dad committed suicide when he was very young and was left to take care of his family. His mom worked multiple jobs to feed his family so Malone had to work at a very young age to support his family also. Malone also often cited that he wasn't proud of his past and often noted that he wished he had turned his life around sooner.

After he did turn is life around he was very well known as one of the nicest guys in sports, winning countless awards for being a nice guy and a good sportsman. He donated hunders of thousands of dollars to the Navajo people of Utah to help them when nobody else would. Apparently he payed off several people's mortages who were in need, though only one time did it get into the news, and that's how he wanted it. He also donated countless hours helping people around Salt Lake City with labor projects.

None of that mentioning the time he spent out on his tractor after Hurricane Katrina helping people and clearing roadways of debri with his logging crew, which he funded with no government support.

Look, we can go back and throw stones at they guy for something he did when he was 18 years old, or you can realize that some people truly do change, and I think it's safe to say Malone has made this world a far better place then it was had he not been a part of it.

Look at it on the positive side: unlike most American children born to an unwed teenage mother, if you can become successful, you get to meet Karl Malone!

Batronuj, despite his warmer behaviour toward other kids, how does that excuse him? All it means is that this isn't an isolated incident.

I've seen 13-14 year olds who look 16-17, no doubt. I can see where age becomes an issue here then.

As for the Dwight situation, I think his comments about putting a cross on the NBA logo necessitate a more focused spotlight for him.

Well how old is the woman? How old is Bell? Subtract the second from the first.

Doesn't matter if she looked 10 or 20. If the story is true, it doesn't change the fact that Karl Malone impregnated a 13 year old.

I'm trying to say what Malone did was okay because it wasn't, but some of you are jumping to conclusions.

Tesla wrote:Well... people look different at different ages. Some people look like they are twenty when they are 13, and we are not sure what exactly were the circumstances in them getting together. There def. could have been better judgement, no matter the circumstances.

However... the dead-beat dad part, yeah... thats spot on. Not only not being part of the childs life at all, but then later when you are basically swimming in cash, not to at least kick some of that into a college fund or something. Thats downright despicable.

I agree that it's hard to determine age on girls 13-20. Case in point Tracy Lords was a porn star until it was discovered she was 13.
And We don't know anything about how they met or what was said between them. If a girl says she was 18 and she looked it then i can't he didn't do his due diligence.

And if she had the baby when she was 13 doesn't mean she got knocked up at 12. Pregnacy lasts 9.5 months. without the mothers birthday assuming she was 12 is just that an assumsition.

Now did Karl Malone know about this son while the boy was growing up? The article just says they met after the kid was 18 already. If Karl didn't know about this child i can't call him a deadbeat. If an 18y/o shows up and out of the blue says "you're my dad" I'm not sure how I'd react myself.

There was an another article post in the thread, it would appear that Malone knew about the kid before he turn 18.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Three children are growing up in Summerfield, La., just
like Karl Malone did - hunting squirrels, hauling hay, busting wood and baiting
hooks.

And all three, like Malone, are without a father.

The children, 17-year-old twins Daryl and Cheryl Ford, and 14-year-old
Demetrius Bell, all believe the Utah Jazz star is their father, although Malone
has refused to publicly claim the three. Paternity suits against Malone were
settled out of court.

all those people saying he doesn't know the girl was only 13 assume that Summerfield is very big or something

Malone exceeded many expectations of a country boy from Summerfield, La., a town with a population 200.
