Definitely definitive. Ray Allen played semi well which is surprising. I would say that they need their role players to step up....that's really the key. Guys like PJ Brown, Perk, Cassell, Rondo, Posey, and Powe all need to have big games for this team to win.

Pierce is going to score and Garnett is going to take medium range jumpers all game long. Victory depends on those guys imo.

Boston held the Lakers below 90..they forced TOs..the got on the boards and challenged Kobe's shots all night. Good defensive game from them.

The Lakers though will bounce back. They and Kobe will adjust so Boston has to anticipate some things and be ready to adjust in game in game 2. They can't lose game 2 and expect to win. They have to hold their home court b/c of how the format is. People say teams don't win those 3 home games...well Detroit did it 4 years ago....and the Heat did it 2 years ago. So it has happened more often lately. So Boston can't lose game 2 and expect to beat LA.

Lakers basically imploded on this one. Committed two ridiculous fouls 50+ feet away from the basket at crucial moments that gave the Celtics 3 free points. Stagnant, stand around and watch Kobe offense. Completely careless with the ball. And the defensive boardwork was embarrassing.

That's BEFORE you get to the 5-20 shooting...

I thought the game really turned when it was 88-82 I believe. Fisher had the ball, with Kobe trailing on a secondary break. Kobe had just gotten murdered on the previous play on a drive, and would have drawn a had anybody breathed on him on this possession. He was calling for the ball. Fisher looked him off, and stood there dribbling for 15 seconds. The end result was a horrible, off-balance 18 foot fadeaway brick from Vujacic.

I believe it was at that point that Odom decided to hack Pierce over the back which put Boston in the bonus and led to 2 free points at the other end.

LA's frontcourt couldn't have played much worse than they did...

LOL at everyone worrying about Kobe. worry about #1 rated defense the entire year. worry about that.

Celts will win Sunday but then Lakers will win 3 straight in L.A and end up winning the series in 7. That's my prediction.

Lakers are in trouble, first time they are behind in a series. This is probably the most important game of the series. Both teams Lakers and Boston are front running teams, we have yet to see if they have character to come back in a series if they are behind.

I don't like either team. But I hate less the Lakers, but its close.

Lakers depended too much on Kobe who didn't have a good night despite the points. Gasol needs to take over in the post more if they want to have a chance. It can't be just a one man show.

Old man Brown was the key for the Celtics down the stretch combined with the emotional lift of Pierce coming back. If they keep grabing double digits offensive rebounds they have a good chance of winning this series. If Pierce is hampered by the knee they're in trouble though. He was playing on adrenaline.

Answer meant to be posted in the previous thread:

2000, 2001 and 2002 WCF were the real Finals, pressure was the highest, yet Kobe's performance was excellent, Einstein.

And how (Please Use More Appropriate Word) is comparing Kobe's game from Shaq's days with his current game anyway?

Game 1 was more important for the Celtics as Phil Jackson is 42-0 in series with a game 1 win.

But Kobe in the Finals? 9/26 :nonono:

I have noticed that Kobe's best performances are usually at home. They need to happen on the road more often than at home that is when the team needs you more.
