obviously Van Gundy wasn't going to give his actual thoughts live on ESPN..Stern is watching..the goons will be after him outside of the arena following the game..

Maybe he wants to keep his job. You think ABC is going to let him back up Donaghy?

There are other types of selfishness, you know.

Like Rodman and his antics on the Bulls.

Like staying out late the night before a game.

Like Garnett putting getting to play his preferred style of play over his team's chances of winning.

So please, explain to me how Garnett deliberately doing much less for his teams chances than he very easily could ISN'T selfish...

It's not selfishness. It's called a tendency. If KG is selfish then so is every player in the NBA. It's like asking Steve Nash to post up on every play and then calling him selfish when he doesn't.

How much land do you own in Wonderland?

Kendrick Perkins is the worst passing big man in the NBA. I think he is gonna commit a turnover everytime he touches the rock.

Thats not really a good analogy. Unless you think posting up Steve Nash is going to help a team win games...

I own a ton of land in the Wonderland where Steve Nash can't post people up at will because he's 6'2, slow, and grounded.

You must own land in the reality where he can post up at will just like KG...let me know if you ever come out of it.

Van Gundy's story was that after Cuban complained to the officials, the refs looked at the tape and determined Yao was using illegal screens, and decided to look at him more closely. His problem was that the league didn't notify the Rockets in order to tell them that "Hey, we looked at the tape and Cuban's claims are valid, you have to watch those screens."

That sort of thing happens all the time in the NBA, not just in that particular series. Owners/coaches complain to the league officials, they look at the tape, and they make their determinations. We all saw this with the Brent Barry call in Game 4 of the WCF this year. The problem with Stern and the NBA is that they keep this process behind closed doors (which includes fining refs who make bad calls), instead of letting it out in the open. That's why I'm willing to give them a pass on that particular story, because that kind of stuff happens all the time, going back to the Auerbach days.

Still, I would love to hear their spin on the whole Lakers-Kings situation. That's a conspiracy theory/accusation that I think has some validity.

I think the officiating has been pretty even. The one complaint I have is in regards to Leon Powe. In game 2, I thought all of the fouls against his opponent were fair. This game, I've counted 3 instances where it looks like he has been fouled and no call. He is the one Celtic the refs seem to like the least. He's also the one who almost never complains about anything. I just find that odd.
